Associate Engineer, Telecommunications (Hybrid)

The Associate Engineer in Telecom Engineering is responsible for the Engineering and Design of Fiber Optic Networks and associated Communication Systems that provide the Enterprise and Operational communication services within Eversource.  

The Associate Engineer will develop detailed engineering design documentation and specifications for the Eversource communications infrastructure. Primarily this will include being the assigned telecom engineer for Substation and or Fiber/Line projects. The Associate Engineer will work with other disciplines to develop scope, specifications, design, and schedule necessary to deliver reliable and complaint solutions. This is a hybrid role. The first three months will be full time in the office.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications/Network Engineering, or an associated discipline from an accredited engineering school is preferred.

Experience:

  • 0-3 years of related experience is required.

  • Base knowledge and interest in communications multiplexers/systems and associated circuits is preferred.

  • Prior knowledge and experience with one or more of the following desirable:
    > Communication Assisted Protective Relaying Schemes
    > Electric utility communication systems (SONET multiplexers)
    > Electric utility communication circuits (RS232, DTT, NX64, C37.94)
    > Design drafting, AutoCAD
    > Outside Plant Fiber (OPGW and ADSS)
    > DWDM/CWDM/WDM
    > OSPinsight
    > NPCC compliance requirements

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position starts at $76,980 and the market rate is $85,530, plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of benefits

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
