This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.
The Lead Engineer is responsible for the development, expansion, planning, design, maintenance and operation of the system and its equipment to meet the mission and objectives of the organization. In addition, this position coordinates the evaluation of system failures, and the appropriate resolutions, to provide support to operations on unplanned maintenance. Responsible for ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards that provide customers with safe, reliable, competitively priced, and environmentally sound electric service. This position shares accountability with peers in the strategy, development, and design of the organization’s Life Cycle Plan, a comprehensive long-term plan for the transmission/distribution system. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.
Essential Functions:
Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time and conducts performance reviews. Assigns, prioritizes, and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE Engineers.
Provides guidance and mentorship to team members with less experience.
Support and troubleshoot the multi-site real-time EMS system, ensuring optimized monitoring and reporting for solid system reliability.
Provide expertise in information systems, operations, architecture, configuration, and modeling for EMS implementation, in particular the Advanced Network Applications (RTNET, RTCA)
Drive user productivity improvement by developing and implementing new business processes and solutions by designing enhancements to the ECS systems to improve the user interfaces.
Stay updated with NERC compliance requirements and ensure adherence.
Serves as a key technical and lead resource on EMS projects and future platform upgrades and is responsible to providing input on the evaluation of new technology and equipment for the system.
Coordinate and schedule team’s availability and manage assignments to support projects.
Collaborates with Operations, Outage Coordination, IT and various other groups and serves as the department’s point of contact.
Provides guidance and mentorship to team members with less experience.
Ensures that the design and specification of additions, modifications and replacements to the transmission and distribution systems, and the preparation of system electrical permits and related customer notifications, are completed accurately and on time.
Collaborates with other Engineers within Engineering to ensure consistency and teamwork.
Provides technical support and direction to operating areas relative to system priorities, engineering guidelines during normal and emergency situations.
Accountable for root-cause analysis, development, and implementation of corrective actions.
Responsible for the development of standards and procedures for design, operation, and maintenance.
Assumes the role of the Manager as required.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.
Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Familiarity with GE eECS platform is a plus.
Ability to create a script or a small compiled application.
Understanding of relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies
Understanding and knowledge of Databases (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Etc.)
Understanding of relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies. (NERC-CIP, Etc.)
Able to work independently and contribute proactively to drive results.
Education:
Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology, preferably in Power Systems or Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electrical utility industry.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Compensation and Benefits:
