Manager, Electric Operations Damage Prevention

This position is responsible for planning, monitoring, managing and the overall compliance of the Company’s Damage Prevention Program for Massachusetts Electric Operations. Responsibilities include establishment and implementation of best practices for public awareness programs, field execution, employee training, work processes and documentation. Responsible for evaluating, recommending and implementing automation tools to optimize work schedules, resource allocation, budget adherence and quality control as necessary to ensure best in class performance. Develops and supports work practices that are compliant with Eversource policies, procedures and standards, as well as federal, state and regulatory requirements. Specifically, this position will work closely with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities and ensure proper reporting of all underground incidents per 220 CMR 99.00. Apprises management of status, and recommends modifications to resources, schedule and budget as necessary to ensure both compliance and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions: 

  • Manages and provides functional and administrative direction to all supervisors and team leaders responsible for administering the Damage Prevention Program.
  • Oversees all aspects of the damage control and compliance program areas while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations.
  • Leads and integrates all studies, analyses and planning in support of continuous improvement of the Damage Prevention Program. Monitors, audits and reports on compliance programs for internal parties and external agencies.
  • Manages and ensures operational enhancements meet pre-determined objectives concerning quality, technical specifications, reliability, schedule and budget and standardizing company practices. Identifies and evaluates new technology to improve damage prevention programs.
  • Oversees the management, development and selection of area staff.  Manages the development and implementation of safety and training programs to ensure continued employee growth and development.
  • Monitors department performance and recommends to management any process changes, cost and resource adjustments that are required to meet company objectives.
  • Ensures all work is conducted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and quality standards.
  • Ensures that improvements in systems, processes and procedures are identified and implemented.  Evaluates new technology to improve damage prevention programs.
  • Analyzes CBYD violation data and makes recommendations.  May provide testimony and represent Company at DPU hearings, technical meetings as well as inspections and audits.
  • Actively participates, as required, on committees, task forces or work groups representing the Company’s industry interests and locating best practices.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Requires thorough knowledge of damage prevention techniques, code requirements and management. 
  • Also requires knowledge of design and construction of electric distribution and transmission facilities and equipment, as well as the codes and regulations that govern the operation and maintenance of the electric distribution and transmission systems. 
  • Requires strong administrative, communication and leadership skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, related discipline or equivalent experience.              

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years managing or supervising groups engaged in electric operations and compliance management. 
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, integrating and completing projects that enhance safety, system reliability and organizational efficiency.                           

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $142,700.00 to $158,600.00, plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area.  Manages multiple tasks in multiple locations at one time.  This will require visiting multiple locations on a frequent basis.  Attends to problems in off-hours and for extended periods, if necessary.

  • Work involves calculating, comparing, technical writing, editing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing and presenting. 
  • This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met, and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
