Associate Engineer, Gas Quality Control

Assists in the assessment of the performance of engineering assignments related to the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of gas distribution, pressure regulating systems, including standard projects. Applies engineering practices as directed by the Manager or other engineering personnel. Supports the implementation, of the Eversource Quality Control (QC) through the application of engineering principles when reviewing construction, maintenance, meter service, leak survey, corrosion, damage prevention, LNG and I&R activities at Eversource Gas. Ensures that work and activities are performed in accordance with all federal, state, and company construction standards and procedures and all safety rules and standards established by the Company and required by law. The QC Engineer has the authority to direct and stop, if necessary, work to ensure compliance with all requirements. Under direct supervision, this position is an authorized company representative when on job sites and has the authority to make decisions, within their area of responsibility, on behalf of the Company.Essential Functions:
• Under the direction of the Manager or other engineering staff, review system designs or installations to assess compliance with the Company’s objectives, conformance to industry standards, guidelines, and regulations of federal, state and local authorities
• Ensures all work activities are being performed in accordance with Gas Distribution construction standards and operating procedures. Verifies that the work is being performed by qualified personnel.
• Analyze work packages to ensure they are in order with appropriate work procedures as required, mark out ticket, and mapping information.
• Supports the on-boarding of contractor crews and verifies that all aspects of the Company’s Operator Qualification Plan are being followed.
• Identifies non-compliant conditions and situations, makes recommendations for corrective action.
• Responsible for accurate documentation of inspection results.
• Responsible for the Company’s gas quality control programs.
• Provides as needed support during incident investigation and incident analysis.
• Communicates in writing and verbally in a clear, effective, and timely manner.
• Will be assigned an ERP role and will support Gas or Electric during any ERP or Work continuation event as required.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

- Use Engineering knowledge, skill, and ability to effectively manage and analyze technical data/records.
- Ability to provide both strategic insight and perform detail-based analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees, contractors, customers, municipal officials, business organizations, environmental groups, and community-based organizations.
- Understanding of Federal and state (CT and MA) compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Must be extremely proficient in all MS Office functions and able to swiftly adapt to current software tools such as Safety Incident Management Systems (SIMS).
- Demonstrated strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-managed and apply skills in problem solving and decision making.
- Ability to gain trust quickly and to maintain confidentiality and credibility with clients and partners at all levels within the organization.
- Must have the ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) and follow schematic drawings.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
Experience:
- Zero (0) to three (3) years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards or a technical background a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $75150.00 to $83500.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
