This is a hybrid role.  The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Manage initiatives to develop and communicate the Company’s strategic objectives and implementation plans with respect to designing, building, and operating the electric grid of the future.Develop and maintain a value map for electric operations based on an assessment of core competencies and their impact on safety, reliability, resiliency, clean energy policy advancement, and optimization functions.Tie value map to internal priorities with respect to investments in workforce, technology, efficiency initiatives, and regulatory priorities.Perform assessments of the current state for people, process and technology and identify opportunities to increase alignment with longer term strategic objectives for the Company and the industry.Individual will be responsible for coordinating multi-disciplinary initiatives that include functions such as operations, customer care, information technology, regulatory, corporate communications, and business development.Role will include overseeing and ensuring optimal performance of teams of internal and external resources to support development of strategy and business plans.Responsibilities will also include engagement with external counterparts and stakeholders to ensure the Company is leveraging and contributing to industry best practices.

Essential Functions: 

  • Lead rigorous analysis to understand and communicate emerging external trends related to the electric distribution industry and the deployment of distributed energy resources.  Analysis will include developments in regulatory, policy, technology, and energy markets.

  • Perform assessments of the current state of people, process, and technology relative to longer-term industry trends and Company strategic objectives.

  • Develop and support efforts to obtain senior executive level approval of an enterprise strategic roadmap and execution plan for grid modernization across multiple states and business units.

  • Work collaboratively across the organization to gain a thorough knowledge of the Company’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities and motivate cross-functional participation in the development of grid modernization strategic planning.

  • Manage development and prioritization of strategic initiatives, including tracking and reporting of progress relative to near-term execution opportunities.

  • Ensure Company’s strategic priorities are responsive to industry developments and continue to maximize value over time, capturing new opportunities as they emerge.

  • Direct efforts to ensure effective and efficient implementation of strategic Company initiatives, including resourcing strategy to maximize the use of internal and external resources.

  • Play a leadership role across the Company to ensure the effective coordination of large strategic initiatives that cross the information and operational technology divide.

  • Manage teams of internal and external resources to ensure grid modernization strategic and operational goals are achieved efficiently and effectively.

  • Provide input and operational perspective to the enterprise energy strategy and business development group to develop advocacy positions on key energy policies.

  • Communicate the Company’s initiatives externally as appropriate and participate in industry forums to support the Company’s position contributing to industry best practices.

  • Demonstrate creative and rigorous thought leadership to identify and design opportunities to deploy technologies to advance the goals of distribution system modernization.

  • Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills, including support for executive level reviews and approvals.

  • Foster a productive, engaging, and inclusive work environment in which open communication is encouraged and obstacles to open communication are addressed quickly.

  • Promote and encourage a positive, cooperative and efficient work atmosphere.

  • Guide direct reports when challenging situations are encountered and help them to be successful.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and communications within the leadership team to share ideas, spearhead inter-disciplinary projects and coordinate common work efforts.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Proven strategic thinking ability; strong analytical skills including experience using qualitative tools in strategic development; demonstrated business development aptitude with strong presentation skills and executive presence; strong leadership skills to penetrate and work effectively throughout the organization; ability to effectively facilitate the execution of large initiatives; demonstrated competency and proficiency in oral and written communications; is customer driven; displays initiative as a change agent with a can-do attitude; accepts responsibility and holds others accountable; participates in and facilitates team effectiveness; assumes the role of team leader; makes sound decisions to support strategic objectives.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in business or technical related discipline (MBA preferred)

Experience:

Ten or more years of successful strategic planning and other related experience required.  Direct experience with electric distribution energy industry preferred.

None.

Compensation and Benefits:Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $140,000.00 to $156,000.00, plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

  • Travel throughout the service territory is frequently required

  • Work is performed in an office environment
