This position is responsible for providing technical analysis, advice, and support to customers for electric and natural gas energy efficiency projects. This position supports the development, promotion and implementation of energy efficiency programs to meet established goals. This role audits buildings to find energy efficiency opportunities.As a sponsor of Mass Save, Eversource administers over $200 million dollars of incentive payments per year to customers for implementing energy efficiency, demand, and electrification projects that would not be executed without this financial support. The energy calculations that the Project Engineers are responsible for provide commercial and industrial customers of all types with accurate, third-party verified energy analysis that is used as the basis for their incentive offer and financial analysis. POSITION: Energy Efficiency Project Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Energy Efficiency
LOCATION: Westwood, MA
RATES OF PAY: $47.92 - 51.08 - 54.26 - 57.47 - 60.67- p/hr
SCHEDULE: M-F, 7:30AM – 4PM
Essential Functions:
- Reviews third party calculations or conducts new detailed analysis of high efficiency HVAC equipment, motors, controls, lighting systems, and other equipment to determine electric and natural gas energy, demand and cost savings compared to baseline equipment and or building codes.
- Provides guidance on efficiency measures that will yield energy savings.
- Supports and/or conducts inspections of equipment and operations to ensure they are installed as intended.
- Collaborates with third parties and customers for implementation of energy efficiency programs.
- Provides training and support services for energy efficiency team and program marketing activities.
- Participates in the development of program and implementation plans for electric and natural gas energy efficiency programs. Reviews technical parameters and confirms that the project conforms to engineering standards, energy codes and incentive program rules.
- Supports Eversource in national energy efficiency conferences and/or stake holder events (e.g. ACEEE, ASHRAE, ACI, CEE, and state/regional R&D groups).
- Conducts the evaluation of new technologies and other research and development activities.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.
- Experience conducting bin and hourly energy simulations in Excel
- Proficiency with Equest, Energy Plus or similar simulation tool
- Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Education:
- Baccalaureate degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or similar applied science
- Advanced degree in engineering, business, marketing is desirable.
Experience:
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in engineering or related technical role.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Engineer in Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or accredited Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Professional is preferred.
