POSITION SUMMARY:
An entry level job within the Electric Distribution Designer progression. Provides the incumbent with experience and training necessary for advancement to the Electric Distribution Designer 2L level. Duties include field and design work associated with the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Company’s electrical distribution system. Ability to effectively work and communicate with people both internal and external to the Company.
PRIMARY DUTIES
1. Performs or assists within the limits of ability and experience the duties contained in the job description entitled Electric Distribution Designer 2 with under close supervision.
2. Interfaces with appropriate departments to ensure the proper design and efficient coordination of
information for distribution projects.
3. Provides accurate and timely cost estimates and designs for new Residential services, relocations and upgrade projects. Prepares designs and supporting documentation for additions and changes to the Company electric system.
4. Actively participates in the weekly AWC Planning and Scheduling meetings.
5. Will have storm restoration and emergency restoration assignments.
6. Maintains a working knowledge and adherence to the rules and provisions of company environmental policies, Design Standards, and Safety Manual in the design of facilities.
7. Listens to and understands the customer (both internal and external); anticipates customer needs; gives high priority to customer satisfaction.
8. Prepares documentation for GIS map update process.
9. Monitors and provides accurate need dates for all ongoing assigned projects. Provides timely response and follow-up to customer and contractor inquiries.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education/Experience
Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Electricity or similar program, or 2 years of combined education and related experience.
Experience - Successful completion of on-the job training of an Electric Distribution Designer 3L which normally takes 6 months, or equivalent level of related work experience. (A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology meets the experience requirement)
Knowledge/Skills
1. A Working knowledge of electrical and construction nomenclature equipment and procedures.
2. Capable of accurately interpreting blueprints and company circuit maps
3. Effective written and oral communication skills.
4. Effective computer skills.
5. Must successfully pass the EEI Tech Test.
6. Knowledge of National Electric Code as it pertains to Eversource service requirements. Knowledge of the National Electric Code as it pertains to service installations and customer requirements, and knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code as it pertains to the Eversource distribution system.
7. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
The salary range for this position starts at $33.45/hourly and progresses in accordance with the union contract. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
