Role and Scope of Position:Responsible for managing the Company’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) centralized Engineering and Technical Services Group, which provides engineering, project management, regulatory compliance, and administrative support to the LNG Operations and Maintenance Groups. Manage a staff who ensure all facilities are supported by these services, while coordinating with other departments such as Gas Supply, Gas Control, Procurement, and Gas Engineering to address regulatory, legal and contractual items as necessary. This position provides technical expertise in engineering design, construction, 49 CFR 193 code requirements, state regulatory requirements, and other technical aspects of the LNG business. Responsible for the management of the LNG capital investment budget, ensuring proper documentation is in place for all approvals, apprising management of project statuses, recommends modifications to resources, and ensures cost recovery through the applicable state processes.
Essential Functions:
- Manages Eversource and contract employees responsible for supporting the company's LNG/LPG facilities with engineering and regulatory support. Includes the safe and successful management of all LNG construction projects, including the refurbishment of existing facilities, and implementation of new programs.
- Manages the department by establishing and monitoring goals, policies, plans, programs, performance objectives and budget.
- Participates in the communication of project plans through community outreach, including representation of Eversource during permit and regulatory proceedings.
- Oversees and ensures projects meet pre-determined objectives concerning quality, technical specifications, reliability, schedule, and budget.
- Responsible for determining assignments, timetables and responsibilities for team members and assists with the oversight and assessment of their performance.
- Ensures that systems, processes, and procedures are standardized and continuously assessed for improvement.
- Supports the risk assessment of all gas assets and development of the capital investment plan.
- Serves on and supports various Eversource internal committees and workgroups to provide information and recommendations to Eversource senior management; Responsible for representing the Company in regulatory, state, and municipal proceedings as it relates to siting or regulatory proceedings involving plant operations and upgrade activities.
- Directs the department’s activities consistent with Company standards and policy.
- Develops and provides implementation strategies for programs and initiatives in support of Gas System Operations objectives.
- Oversees the management and development of staff. Assesses the need for, and oversees implementation of, programs to ensure employees possess technical, interpersonal, and organizational skills required to support the business’s plans; Ensures that safe work practices are followed, and the Company’s environmental and other policies are fully implemented within the organization.
- Develops long term plans, including budgets and schedules, to ensure key company objectives are met.
- Serves as an LNG subject matter expert when supporting other business groups.
- Integrates cross functional groups or teams to initiate and implement projects.
- Works with senior management on sensitive, or confidential projects.
- Oversees and provides strategic vision in support of process improvements or other key initiatives
- Identifies and assesses internal and external stakeholder-related risks and develops and implements risk mitigation plans.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Requires extensive knowledge in the theoretical and practical application of engineering and project management techniques.
- Requires knowledge of design and construction of gas and oil production process facilities.
- Strong knowledge of LNG liquefaction and vaporization systems, federal (PHSMA and FERC) and state code requirements and local permitting and licensing related to LNG.
- Must have the ability to achieve desired results by setting high standards for self and others, taking responsibility for outcomes.
- Requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
- MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of ten (10) years managing or supervising groups engaged in LNG, power generation, oil or gas construction, engineering, project management, or supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, integrating, and completing major construction projects and providing plant engineering support.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Project Management Certification (PMI) preferred
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $146,750.00 to $163,060.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
- This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
