Supervisor, LNG Plant Operations Eastern

Role and Scope of Position:
The LNG Operations Supervisor will ensure the Facility is safely, reliably, and efficiently operated during liquefaction and send-out seasons by managing a team of operators who will perform the day-to-day operation functions of the Facility. The Operations Supervisor reports to the LNG Plant Superintendent.

The LNG Operations Supervisor must understand all aspects of the Facility operations, including but not limited to pretreatment and liquefaction, storage, transfer systems, truck loading systems, vaporization systems, and utility systems. In addition, the LNG Operations Supervisor must understand all aspects of LNG Facility security, regulatory compliance requirements (49 CFR Part 193 and NFPA 59A), plant operating procedures, equipment, and maintenance requirements.

Essential Functions: 

  • Oversees/monitors and controls the operation of liquefaction, LNG storage, truck loading/offloading, and send-out operations.
  • Supervises a team of operators responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the Facility.
  • Ensures that operational procedures are developed, peer-reviewed, and implemented in an efficient manner
  • Evaluates operational personnel on a regular basis to assess their core competencies to carry out operational requirements.
  • Plans, directs, controls, and oversees plant startup and shutdowns.
  • Coordinates operator scheduling and staffing requirements.
  • Identifies areas of improvement to operations, safety, and security.
  • Develops and implements necessary training of operations staff.
  • Ensures Eversource corporate requirements are communicated to operations staff and that policies are implemented and followed.
  • Establishes and promotes a culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility.
  • Coordinates and communicates with plant maintenance and engineering departments and external stakeholders.
  • Networks with other facility Operations Supervisor to share lessons learned, experiences, and knowledge to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Communicates with federal, state, and local regulators
  • Ensures regulatory compliance for Federal Energy Regulatory, Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, and Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection inspections.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of LNG and LPG plant policies.
  • Assists with abnormal requests/repairs or emergency response after hours on an as-needed basis.

3.    Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Strong leadership and administrative abilities.
  • Ability to establish a culture of safety, reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Effective communication with different groups, including operations staff, maintenance staff, engineering departments, human resources, federal, state, and local regulators, external stakeholders, and other Eversource corporate groups.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively write, implement, and maintain operational procedures.
  • Ability to understand and manage process control systems.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline.

Experience:   

  • Minimum of five years of relevant operations experience and demonstrable/verifiable knowledge of mechanical equipment operations (i.e. compressors, pumps, instrumentation systems, control systems, etc.)                           

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $114,080 to $126760 plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions will include operational supervision in a plant-office-control room environment with routine outside work during implementation of operational and/or maintenance procedures. 
  • Operations Supervisor will be expected to be in good physical shape and able to climb platforms, staircases, and other physical obstacles necessary to safely navigate the Facility.
  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between Eversource LNG/LPG facilities as necessary.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.  

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing.

  • Operations Supervisor is expected to have an excellent knowledge of the LNG and LPG Facility operations to ensure the Facility is operating within the design parameters and to quickly, effectively, and safely troubleshoot issues and communicate solutions to operations staff. 
  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for understanding the operations of vaporization, pretreatment and liquefaction systems.
