POSITION: Distribution Technician
DEPARTMENT: Gas Distribution
STARTING RATE OF PAY: $34.21 per hour
**Union Represented Position**
ROLE & SCOPE:
The Distribution Technician is responsible for performing assigned duties in accordance with Company Safety Standards, and in compliance with Company, State, and Federal Codes and Regulations for duties described and in compliance with Eversource Gas Operating and Maintenance procedures:
JOB DUTIES:
Assist, a group of operators to install, maintain and repair underground gas mains and systems lines to provide company/customers with safe and efficient gas
Performs duties consistent with the crew.
Performs repairs of gas leaks, installation or repair of gas services, installation and repairs of gas mains, including the fusing of plastic pipe, makes repairs to contractor damages, and performs investigation and general maintenance on underground facilities and working tools.
Operates pipe locating equipment.
Works with vehicle, pneumatic equipment, tapping, cutting and related pipefitting tools as well as other small hand tools in the performance of duties.
Maintains necessary records.
Move materials as necessary in the performance of duties or as directed.
Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
Checks for proper operation of vehicle and equipment and insures adequate parts and supplies. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned in accordance with Agreement.
The Distribution Technician is responsible for successfully completing all training, OJT Tasks and examinations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Education or equivalent.
- Must have 2 years of construction experience, gas pipeline experience preferred.
- Experience working with heavy equipment.
- Must be able to meet DOT requirements.
- Must maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications.
- Be willing and able to accept and satisfactorily complete training courses offered by the Company
- Must have the ability to deal with customers and public respectfully.
- Must possess and retain a valid CDL A driver’s license or obtain in 6 months of job award
- Must possess and retain a hoisting license (2A) or obtain in 6 months of job award
- Ability and willingness to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and at times for extended periods.
- Must have a work history that demonstrates safe work habits.
- Must be willing and able to accept shift, on-call, emergency response, emergency assignments and work overtime.
- Must be able to be certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Must meet residency requirement per Agreement.
- Must maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications.
SCHEDULE:
- Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with ½ hour lunch. This schedule is subject to change for vacations, shifts, and extended illness and/or in accordance with the Agreement.
WAGE PROGRESSION:
Eligible for increases to maximum job rate in accordance with the Labor Agreement.
**Successful applicant must live within 45 minutes of the Easthampton Area Work Center**
