Role and Scope of Position:Plans, coordinates and supervises activities associated with the Electric Meter Lab including testing, maintenance, programming and repair of all new and existing electric meters and associated equipment owned by Eversource. Maintains currency with evolving metering technology. Supervises the field testing of substation, tie line, generation and co-generation metering interfaced with Eversource. Responsible to oversee and/or participate in assignments requiring extensive experience related to electric revenue metering.
Essential Functions:
- Implements and administers approved policies, procedures, and standards for electric meter and associated equipment testing, repairs, maintenance, and retirements for shop tests in the Eversource system.
- Supervises the testing, programming, maintenance and repair of customer, outside utility and municipal owned meters and associated equipment interconnected with the Eversource distribution and transmission systems.
- Supervises the system-wide scheduled field testing, programming and maintenance of all Eversource tie line, substation, primary transmission facility and co-generation metering.
- Supervises and participates in the test, evaluation and purchase of electric metering devices and meter replacement parts for Eversource. Maintains meter supplier relations.
- Maintains currency with evolving electronic meter technology.
- Evaluates new equipment and concepts, performs cost benefit studies and makes recommendations for consequent action.
- Provides coordination and execution of large-scale projects and requests.
- Supervises implementation and maintenance of electric meter delivery schedule, as dictated by division/district requirements.
- Provides complex technical advice on sophisticated metering to internal and external customers.
- Ensures the accurate electric meter and associated equipment tests which comply with regulatory and Company requirements and report on same.
- Supervises work efforts performed outside the Eversource system including billing, purchase orders, meter records, and account statements.
- Acts as the site Environmental Coordinator for the Electric Meter Lab.
- Will have storm restoration and emergency assignments.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in revenue metering or related technical work.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
