IT Senior Architect, Solution (Hybrid)
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Our Team
Role and Scope of Position:
Develops and implements systems architecture that will meet business needs. The solution architect’s responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing the current software systems in place to identify areas in need of improvement, and overseeing development teams. Regularly update the company on any developments in systems architecture projects.
Essential Functions:
Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with other architects and engineers in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
Champions a structured approach to business application solutions from a selection, implementation and development perspective
Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
Influences changes to standards when necessary. (Works with EA developing the Standards)
Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
Builds and integrates information systems to meet the company's needs.
Assesses the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
Provides supervision and guidance to development teams. (Works with PMO to create project Teams)
Continually researches current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.
Informs various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented.
Assesses the business impact that certain technical choices have in the overall landscape at Eversource
Provides updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Applications such as – IFS Mobile Workforce Management, Oracle Primavera related to Work Planning, Scheduling, Dispatching
Good Understanding of all aspects of Work Lifecycle related to Electric and Gas Operations
Extensive knowledge of systems development methodologies and systems integration methodologies and architecture standards.
Experience in designing and developing systems architecture for implementing medium to large scale Enterprise Applications and Systems integrations
Strong knowledge in implementing and managing full project life cycle for a variety of enterprise projects, legacy system migrations, conversions and system upgrades encompassing infrastructure assessment, n-tier distributed application development and process improvements
Collaborate with data architects, infrastructure architects, and other portfolio/program architects across the organization to ensure proposed solutions align closely with the portfolio/enterprise level architecture
Knowledge of business continuity including high availability, disaster recovery, and risk management
Strong Technical knowledge of Microsoft Technologies, DevOps, SDLC, Azure, AWS, Cloud-Infrastructure, Container, Docker, Kubernetes, Middleware Integration Platforms: Mulesoft, webMethods, Informatica, webServices, microServices, Database Platforms – Oracle, SQL Server
Understanding of various Operating Systems, Middleware Servers and infrastructure components such as Windows Servers, Linux, IIServer, Active Directory, LDAP, TCP/IP Networking
Preferred - Certification in Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft Azure Data Engineering, AWS
Preferred - Understanding of Enterprise GIS/Spatial platform such as ESRI, Smallworld
Preferred - Understanding of Enterprise Work and Asset Management platform such as IBM Maximo / Maximo Application Suite (MAS)
Preferred - Understanding of Enterprise CRM platform such as SAP
Excellent oral and written communication
