IT Security Engineer, Zscaler (Hybrid)

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Our Team:
We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Security Operations team. This role is responsible for the administration and support of security system software and hardware, with a particular focus on Zscaler products and technologies, at the enterprise level. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of security principles, theories, and concepts at both the network and application layers, including access control technologies such as firewalls, content scanners, usage monitors, encryption, VPNs, wireless technologies, and cloud-based security platforms.

This role will provide technical support for the planning, coordination, programming, and implementation of upgrades, releases, and changes to security system software and hardware. Responsibilities include ensuring stable performance of security-related software and hardware through continuous performance monitoring, tuning, capacity planning, and system maintenance. A significant part of the role will involve Zscaler platform expertise, ensuring optimal configuration, deployment, and management of Zscaler solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Research, evaluate, and implement security products and solutions, with a focus on Zscaler technologies.
  • Design and implement software to support enterprise security initiatives.
  • Configure and manage security-related hardware and software systems, including Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA).
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, testing, and documentation of security solutions.
  • Perform software upgrades and maintenance, ensuring compliance with change management procedures.
  • Administer and enforce security policies, including through Zscaler management portals.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for Zscaler-specific and general security issues.
  • Conduct network analysis, administration, and configuration.
  • Implement and maintain operating system security measures, application/data backup, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Conduct performance analysis, system tuning, and capacity planning for Zscaler and other security systems.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

Zscaler Expertise (Highly Preferred)

  • Strong hands-on experience with Zscaler technologies, including ZIA, ZPA, and ZDX.
  • Knowledge of Zscaler deployment strategies, configuration, policy creation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Zscaler’s zero-trust architecture and ability to integrate it into broader security programs.
  • Proficiency with Zscaler policy management, reporting, and analytics.

Security Principles & Technology

  • Knowledge in administration and integration of primary security products.
  • Familiarity with security scanning tools and access control systems.
  • Understanding of security models, principles, and concepts.

Maintenance & Monitoring

  • Proficiency in monitoring performance, tuning, installation, and configuration of primary security products.
  • Experience implementing customizations for security solutions.

General IT Skills

  • Working knowledge of operating systems, networking, databases, browser technologies, programming, and IT general control processes.

Tech Support

  • Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day security-related issues, including Zscaler-specific challenges.

Project Management

  • Proven ability to lead or contribute to security-related projects, including Zscaler implementations.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training

Experience:           

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience           

Licenses & Certifications:

  • None

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
