IT Manager, Testing, Quality Assurance (Hybrid) 

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.

Our Team

Responsible for overseeing Information Technologies’ Testing Center of Excellence and Quality Assurance programs and services.  Works closely with all levels of IT leadership and is responsible for establishing and maintaining practices and processes regarding the testing and QA for IT projects, applications and services.

Responsible to lead the direction and decisions for the policies, processes, resources and tools of the IT Testing and QA programs.  Assures compliance and consistency in the quality of IT products and services by developing and enforcing Quality and Testing standards and best practices.  Responsible for the Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) that oversees the design, deployment and operation of the Test Methodology, the supporting testing tools (including automation), and applicable QA elements.  Establish and assure compliance with quality processes and tools necessary to transition applications and services from the development stages to production supportability working with the development, infrastructure and compliance organizations.  Responsibilities include developing plans with leadership, domain area owners, IT staff and client users to adopt using the Testing and QA processes.  Additionally, this position will maintain service quality standards and analytics to monitor performance of the processes, conduct periodic audits of compliance, and recommend, design and implement continuous improvements.

Responsible for leading Information Technologies’ Robotics Process Automation and Enterprise Monitoring teams.  Develops and maintains the standards and delivery platforms used to provide these services.  Directs and guides the teams responsible for delivery of products in these areas.  Works closely with other areas of IT and the Business to deliver and maintain automation and monitoring products to support their business needs.

The position works in the PMO and Next Gen Delivery organization and partners with PMO, Agile Transformation Office, and Architecture to assure a fully integrated software delivery and support approach.

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for the implementing and maintaining the strategic direction and operational support of testing services across the project and maintenance lifecycles, ensuring standards, processes, tools and metrics are developed and consistently followed.
  • Assist with developing a strategic direction and operational support of Quality services across projects and maintenance lifecycle; ensuring standards, processes, tools and metrics are developed and consistently followed.
  • Responsible for leadership of a Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) that identifies standard test case development and maintenance, test tool configuration, testing processes, testing metrics, performance testing, and test automation opportunities to streamline the effort required to ensure solutions are well tested prior to being released into the production computing environment.
  • Leadership responsibilities include overseeing the planning and execution of activities to create, introduce and operate these functions to maintain quality practices and a quality culture.
  • Operational responsibilities include partnering with projects and domain area owners to provide Testing and QA support from project inception through to ongoing operational production supportability.   
  • Uses technology and platform knowledge to ensure effective processes are established, tools used and compliance with processes is maintained for testing and QA.
  • Participates in the project planning and management processes to ensure the aggressive use of testing and quality assurance methodologies and tools.
  • Performs cost/benefit analyses of solutions for testing and quality practices
  • Develops and implements processes, including defining measurable goals, standards and other process measures using industry metrics and tools
  • Responsible for developing standards around the use of Robotics Process Automation and Enterprise Monitoring solutions.
  • Responsible for leadership of the Automation and Monitoring teams, developing the strategy for use of these tools, and ensuring that delivered solutions are properly maintained and meet defined standards.
  • Responsible for ensuring tools and environments are maintained, kept current and secure.
  • Responsible for the ensuring the success of the Managed Testing Services team which includes the performance of testing services, deliverables and metrics around all testing and quality functions. 
  • Responsible for leading employee(s) including performance reviews.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring operating budget.
  • Responsible for vendor and contract management functions as needed

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

  • Requires a strong knowledge of testing practices and tools, quality programs, application delivery methodologies, platform architecture, PMO methodologies, Agile Delivery, DevSecOps, Cloud Technologies (i.e. Azure, AWS, etc.) and IT production services.
  • Requires a strong knowledge of automation technologies and enterprise monitoring technologies and their use in supporting business and IT operations.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Computer Science, related discipline or equivalent experience

Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of business and/or technical experience.  Minimum 3 years in a leadership position.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Agile Certification a plus, not required

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, writing and typing.  Work involves using a computer and telephone as well as personal communication.

Compensation and Benefits
