Senior Data Analyst, Engineering (Hybrid)

Eversource’s Resilience and Reliability Planning group focuses on implementing a data-driven strategy to strengthen the electric transmission and distribution grid to mitigate and adapt to climate change and to enable a modern, digital and decarbonized grid. The Senior Data Analyst will join a team of data analysts and data engineers, that is tasked with multiple, exciting data problems supporting Eversource's three states of operation (NH, MA and CT). This role is expected to lead and expand our advanced data analytics and novel optimization modeling efforts that have the ultimate goal of actionable plans to efficiently enhance grid reliability performance. In addition to historical data analysis, our team is performing predictive analytics to hedge against weather events that are becoming more frequent and more intense due to progressing climate change. This role is at the core of the creation of an enterprise-wide reliability and resilience strategy given a variety of complex considerations like operational challenges and regulatory constraints and is expected to work cross-functionally with multiple different internal and external teams.

Essential Functions: 

  • Analyzes processes and data and converts this into value added thinking and information and actionable insights.
  • Identifies opportunities for process change or continuous improvement and participates in the acceptance and implementation of the change including the development of in-house analytics tools. 
  • Understands information technology solutions and how they apply to business needs. 
  • Performs or assists in ad-hoc querying and reporting as requested by Eversource management or personnel.
  • Works with various departments throughout the Company analyzing data and processes and translates their needs into optimization and analytics models and processes.
  • Develops reports, prepares and delivers presentations, writes procedures and performs other activities as needed.
  • Responsible for storm restoration and emergency assignments.
  • Oversees work as needed including internal and external regulatory reporting, story telling and gets involved in internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, statistical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, charts and building functions, required. 
  • Experience with electrical utilities and electrical distribution systems, preferred.
  • Demonstrated programming experience with database programing (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, Access, SQLite), Python, R and MatLab.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI reporting is a plus.
  • Fast & eager learner, that enjoys working collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams and is interested in leading data and engineering teams
  • Familiarity with optimization, machine learning models, risk-based models and probabilistic analysis.

Education:  Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in a quantitative field. Advanced degree is a plus.

Experience:  Minimum of three (5) years of industry experience in data analytics or data engineering. Previous utility experience is a plus. Advanced degree may supplement years of industry experience. Former supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$105,230.00-$116,920.00
