Position Summary:Eversource is seeking an AI Senior Software Engineer to join our Artificial Intelligence Hub to lead the development of scalable infrastructure, reusable components, and API integrations supporting our enterprise-wide AI platforms. This role will play a key part in building out our internal AI Hub architecture, with a focus on enabling and expanding our Enterprise ChatGPT platform, internal GenAI tools, and long-term service capabilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering foundation, a deep understanding of cloud-native infrastructure (Azure preferred), and hands-on experience working with AI models, APIs, or platform integrations. This individual will contribute to the technical design, implementation, and scaling of core AI services that support intelligence augmentation across the business.
Essential Functions:
- Design, develop, and maintain AI Hub infrastructure components including backend services, APIs, model orchestration workflows, and integration pipelines.
- Build scalable frameworks and shared services to support secure, compliant GenAI use across Eversource.
- Support custom development of AI-powered applications, tools, and endpoints supporting internal teams and users.
- Drive to enable and extend Enterprise ChatGPT and custom GPT capabilities (e.g., RAG, vector search, plugins).
- Architect and implement scalable systems that follow security, monitoring, and cost optimization best practices.
- Partner with AI Architects, DevOps, and Eversource Architects to define infrastructure blueprints and deployment pipelines.
- Implement observability into AI services (e.g., logging, telemetry, performance metrics) to ensure maintainability and traceability.
- Evaluate and integrate with external APIs, AI model providers, and data services.
- Contribute to documentation and support knowledge transfer across engineering and AI delivery teams.
- Stay current on emerging trends in MLOps, LLM integration, and AI infrastructure scaling strategies.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, OpenAI APIs, LangChain, RAG frameworks, or similar architectures
- Strong development skills in Python, with experience in TypeScript, Java, or C# a plus
- Deep familiarity with cloud-native architectures (preferably Azure) and experience deploying containerized workloads (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, or service-oriented architectures
- Knowledge of MLOps, data pipeline architecture, or AI model deployment best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps pipelines, CI/CD tools, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates)
- Demonstrated ability to apply scalable design principles, including modularity, extensibility, and fault-tolerance
- Strong debugging, testing, and documentation skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced, iterative environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience, preferably with at least 1+ years focused on AI infrastructure or platform development
- Requires advanced to expert knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have broad knowledge of project management. Works to influence parties within and outside of the job function at an operational level regarding policies, procedures, and practices. Requires substantial knowledge of ES projects, programs, or systems in order to provide enhancements within job area.

- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
