This is a hybrid role with the first three months in the office.
Eversource is looking for a Lead Analyst, Transmission in Hartford, CT,Westwood, MA or Manchester, NH. In this role you perform economic analyses of the clean energy transition in New England. This position is responsible for modeling the electricity sector and use of the transmission grid to meet the mission and objectives of the organization. Takes a lead role in administering the model dataset, settings, assumptions, outputs, and results interpretation. Contributes to reports and presentations of economic analyses. In addition, this position coordinates preparation and development of data, reports, presentations, and compliance filings regarding Eversource transmission projects to ISO New England and serves as a transmission engineering subject matter expert in state, regional, and federal forums. This position shares accountability with peers in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic initiatives and economic analyses. Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing, and directing the work performed by other Analysts. Participates in the development and administration of departmental systems. Assists in the development and maintenance of departmental, job aides, procedures and supporting documentation.
Essential Functions:
Performs economic analyses of the New England power sector using computer simulation tools and traditional economic fundamentals. Using Energy Exemplar’s PLEXOS software, forecast power market production, pricing, and emissions outcomes in New England.
Administers the PLEXOS dataset and related modeling cases by:
Maintaining the dataset with current input assumptions from various public and proprietary information sources, including ISO New England.
Establishing the characteristics and settings associated with model cases.
Performs and oversees model set up and executes PLEXOS simulations.
Develops appropriate outputs from simulation results.
Performs and oversees periodic results benchmarking exercises.
Interprets the results from PLEXOS modeling analyses and examines key factors driving outcomes.
Contributes to reports and presentations explaining the results of economic analysis in PLEXOS.
Conducts energy and environmental economic analyses of the power sector by:
Identifying issues for economic analysis.
Developing a plan for analyzing energy and environmental (i.e., emissions) issues.
Applying appropriate methodologies and analytical approaches.
Performs or commissions economic analyses.
Develops clear and concise materials explaining the analysis and findings.
Effectively communicates analysis results and findings.
Supervises and mentors other analysts.
Provides subject matter expertise for economic analyses and supports major economic analyses across the company, including power purchase agreements, cost to benefit calculations, interactions of the gas and electric industry interface, and other policy-related economic analyses.
Support company engagement at wholesale markets related NEPOOL technical committees.
Participates in the development and administration of departmental systems. Assists in the development and maintenance of departmental, job aides, procedures and supporting documentation.
This role requires little supervision, superior customer services, and appreciation for how their work aligns with corporate goals.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Excellent technical, quantitative, and analytical skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer modeling skills on complex systems required, power sector simulation modeling capability in PLEXOS preferred, proficiency in other platforms a plus.
Familiarity with the utility industry is required, work experience at an ISO/RTO a plus.
MS Office proficiency and MS Excel expertise required, coding and visualization experience preferred, GIS software experience a plus.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills, ability to apply knowledge to solve problems, strong team building skills, and interest in managing and developing talent.
General understanding of FERC and / or New England state energy regulation desirable.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Statistics, Math, or related discipline
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years of related experience
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
