Data Engineer, P&C Engineering (Hybrid)
06/30/2025Locations: Westwood, Massachusetts; East Berlin, Connecticut; Manchester, New Hampshire
This is a hybrid position. The first three months are full-time in the office.
Highly motivated Data Engineer to help build and support Eversource Protection and Controls Enterprise Systems. This individual will work closely with the members of the P&C Compliance team, to improve P&C data management and analytics. Duties include specifying and implementing the systems that will manage P&C data, as well as obtaining, cleaning, and reporting on data obtained from other groups. A fair amount of manual data entry and cleanup is expected.
Essential Functions:
Analyze protection system records to ensure they are maintained in accordance to NERC, NPCC, and ISO NE standards.
Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from various sources.
Build and maintain P&C data infrastructure and databases.
Monitor and optimize data pipelines for performance and efficiency.
Collaborates across Eversource and the wider engineering and operational organization to ensure that internal and external reports are using a consistent source of data.
Identifies and helps to remediate root causes of data issues that may be encountered.
Work includes data entry, data manipulation, data analysis, technical writing, designing, documenting, coordinating, implementing, and presenting.
Develop and maintain interfaces to translate P&C logic and settings into code, to support Ratings Calculations based on raw Settings data.
Create and curate datasets for reporting AND use tools like PowerBI to create visualizations based on said datasets.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
Strong with scripting languages (MATLAB required).
Experience with data pipeline and data integration tools.
Experience with database technologies.
Experience with software administration in the electrical utility industry (i.e. Doble PowerBase) preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of or experience working with utility companies is desirable.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field.
Advanced degree preferred.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts, and companies within and outside the state.
