Role and Scope of Position:
The Manager of Instrumentation and Regulation (I&R) is responsible providing oversight to the I&R department and to ensure that Eversource’s gate station and district regulators are safely, reliably and efficiently maintained in accordance with federal regulations and industry best practices. This position report to the Eversource Director of Instrumentation and Regulation. Additionally, this position oversees all activities associated with the installation, maintenance and general upkeep of the Company’s telemetry equipment.

The Manager of I&R is also responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all operational activities within the department. Accountability includes but is not limited to, public and employee safety, O&M and Capital budgetary controls, system operations, construction and maintenance activities involving gate stations, regulator stations, and telemetry equipment.

Essential Functions: 

  • Manages and provides functional and administrative direction to all supervisors and team leaders responsible for instrumentation and regulation operation.
  • Reviews and approves time, vehicle and expense reports, purchase requisitions and invoices related to departmental activity.
  • Maintains a working relationship with the area bargaining unit leadership and effectively administers the agreement between the Company and the Union.
  • Assures that the department meets regulatory code compliance for gate stations, regulator stations and gas system instrumentation.
  • Evaluate staffing requirements and propose changes when required.
  • Develops, prepares and manages operating, maintenance and capital budgets within the department.
  • Supports the I&R Supervisor On-Call and is available for storm duty assignments as required.
  • Assures that systems operate in compliance with Company environmental operating procedures. 
  • Leads the department in the implementation of new processes and work practices as required by the business.
  • Initiates and manages positive change within the I&R department.
  • Actively participate, as required, on committees, task forces or work groups representing the Company’s industry interests, such as the American Gas Association, Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, Northeast Gas Association, etc.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Strong knowledge of gas engineering, construction and maintenance policies, procedures and practices.  Applicable governmental codes and regulations affecting gas distribution.

Education:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience:                             

  • Minimum of Ten (10) years related experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA & CT as necessary.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.

  • Work includes analyzing, planning, organizing, evaluating and documenting.  This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.

$148,910.00-$165,450.00
