This is a Fully Qualified Electrician Opening.
Under the direction of the Electrician Supervisor, perform the work at the Journeyman level to install, operate, repair electrical equipment in substations, power stations at voltages from 120/240 up to 345Kv and customer installations within the State of Connecticut. The physical demands of this position range from LIGHT to HEAVY; these include but are not limited to: operating aerial lifts, cranes, lulls, welding and cutting steel and aluminum.
Testing, calibrating and maintaining controls, meters, relays, and switches. Installation of equipment and maintenance of transformers, capacitors, transducers, re-closers, reactors breakers, control panels, relays and bus as well as troubleshoot wiring circuits, voltage regulators, and other electronic equipment. These are completed in accordance with all applicable OSHA regulations, distribution construction standards, and established schedules and safety procedures at Eversource. Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, and reaching are performed on a frequent basis. Bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, kneeling, and twisting are performed on an occasional to frequent basis. The heaviest physical demands are required during the moving and handling of 55-gallon drums, capacitor cans, re-closer control boxes, bushings, and nitrogen tanks. These activities require handling of up to 25-pounds on a frequent basis, 50-100 pounds on an occasional basis. Heavier tasks may require the assistance of (2) or more co-workers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must hold a Commercial driver’s (CDL) and Hazmat endorsement.
- Must complete the 48-month Time Merit Progression program for electricians and pass the CAST Test.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather with fluctuating temperatures, climbing ladders, scaffolding, descending underground.
- Must be physically able to perform the “essential duties” of the Electrician position.
- Ability to read, write and interpret documents in the English language, work from drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Be able to effectively interact, communicate, and direct the work of other co-workers.
- Exposure to the hazards of working in confined places and to high voltage electrical shock.
- 3+ years’ experience as an industrial electrician, including 1 year of experience in the maintenance of high voltage switchgear and substations (2.4KV up to 69KV)
- Must be available for trouble call assignment.
Fully Qualified Electrician with CDL and Hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain both. The individual will be expected to be available for routine overtime and emergency work.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license. Candidates must also possess an E1 or E2 Electrical license or have successfully completed the TMP for electrician.
Candidates may need to take and must successfully pass the Construction and Skilled Trades Test (CAST) Test. Bargaining unit employees under the TEAL Book with contractual rights to this position will be given first consideration. Please attach a resume when completing your online application.
