Accountable for managing the field engineering and lab services process for Eversource’s transmission and distribution system. This position has shared responsibility, with the other area operations managers, for providing cost effective implementation of maintenance, construction projects, and troubleshooting to world class standards. Manages supervisors of multi-skilled work crews performing construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks across the service territory.Essential Functions:
- Manages teams by establishing and monitoring regional goals, policies, plans, standards, performance objectives and budget.
- Analyzes and recommends resource levels to plan, develop and implement policies and practices.
- Manages area financial resources.
- Coordinates activities across other company areas and departments.
- Responsible for hiring, managing, coaching and developing union and non-union staff.
- Assesses the need for, and oversees implementation of, programs to ensure employees possess technical and behavioral skills required to support operating plans.
- Implements best practices to achieve efficient and effective maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting services.
- Manages internal and external service providers.
- Provides data to various areas within Electric Operations organization to fulfill performance reporting requirements and forecasts.
- Manages the planning and scheduling of work and resources for the Company maintenance and construction plan.
Qualifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
- Requires demonstrated skill in developing a supervisory team, a union workforce and process re-engineering.
- Prefer knowledge of any applicable compliance regulations and policies, Eversource operating procedures; switching & tagging, ability to read/interpret schematic diagrams, blue prints and vendor instruction manuals.
- Prefer knowledge of electrical utility maintenance, construction and testing and electric utility equipment including transformers, HV and MV circuit breakers, protective relays & devices, reclosers, switchgear, regulators, fuses, disconnects, arresters, and station batteries. Also, understanding of utility protection and control functions and electric utility testing equipment and software.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (preferred), related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Master of Science Degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
Experiences:
- Minimum of ten (10) years managing or supervising groups engaged in transmission/distribution or related activities.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Motor Vehicle Operator License is required.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
Mental Aspects:
- Requires the ability to manage multiple priorities to effectively meet service level commitments.
- This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
