JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision the Distribution Technician is responsible for performing assigned duties, in accordance with Company Safety Standards and in compliance with Company, State and Federal regulations as described in the Gas Operating and Maintenance procedures for duties described below. The Distribution Technician is responsible for successfully completing all OJT tasks and examinations as required.
- Performs work consistent with training provided and/or skills attained or held.
- Operates various motor vehicles and associated equipment including Dump Trucks, Patch Truck, Saw Truck & Road Saw, Crew and Boom Trucks.
- Assist in and/or perform the duties in related job series classifications; work as crew member when required and perform other similar duties as assigned.
- May be assigned other work in accordance with Labor Agreement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pass DOT physical and maintain required certifications
- Pass DOT drug screen if not currently in a covered position
- Possess and retain unrestricted MA Vehicle Operator’s license
- Possess and retain Class A/CDL Vehicle Operator license or be willing to train and obtain license within six months from assignment to the classification.
- Possess and retain state of Massachusetts Hoisting License 2A and 1C or be willing to train and obtain
- Must have experience operating heavy equipment
- Must have 2 years of construction experience, gas pipeline experience preferred
- Be in good physical condition with the ability to perform strenuous manual labor
- Pass OSHA required tests on the operation of a forklift truck and operate same
- Be regular in attendance with the ability to perform duties safely
- Be cooperative in working with and have aptitude for dealing successfully with others
- Be willing and able to accept shift and emergency assignments and work overtime
- Have the ability to keep required records satisfactorily.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Residency requirement: Must live within 30 minutes of the Springfield Service Center.
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute lunch period. This schedule is subject to change for vacations, extended illness and/or in accordance with the Labor Agreement.
