Locations: South Hooksett, New Hampshire

Role and Scope of Position:
Responsible for providing direction to personnel and/or carrying out assignments which require extensive experience in planning and performing a variety of system wide technical assignments associated with the installation, acceptance testing, maintenance and/or repair of protective relay systems/equipment for Eversource. The specific system/equipment responsibilities include, but are not limited to, electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, powerline carrier, DTT (Direct Transfer Trip), SCADA (Supervisory Controls & Data Acquisition), IEC 61850 Systems, HMIs (Human Machine Interface)/mechanical based annunciators, DFRs (Digital Fault Recorders), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), pole-top reclosers, and system RTUs (Remote Terminal Unit). Individuals will ensure the use of human performance tools/work procedures and will be responsible for supervising/training employees assigned to them while ensuring the completion of all work assignments in a safe and timely manner.

Essential Functions: 

  • Provides direction to personnel and/or performs assignments requiring extensive experience in planning and performing of a variety of system wide technical assignments associated with the installation, acceptance testing, maintenance and/or repair of protective relay systems/equipment for Eversource.
  • Specific system/equipment responsibilities include IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices), electromechanical and solid-state protective relaying, power line carrier, DTT (Direct Transfer Trip), SCADA (supervisory controls and data acquisition), IEC 61850 systems, HMI (Human Machine Interfaces)/mechanical based annunciators, DFRs (Digital Fault Recorders), PLCs (programmable logic controllers), pole-top reclosers, and system RTUs (Remote Terminal Unit).
  • Ensures the completion of all work assignments in a safe and timely manner.
  • Provides training to and instructs others within the department. Plans, schedules, and reviews work performed and evaluates subordinates.
  • Identifies appropriate procedural methods and makes decisions based on analysis of all available information.
  • Works effectively with subordinates, superiors, interfacing departments, and vendors.
  • Analyzes operational methods and develops improved procedures as needed.
  • Interprets Company policies, procedures and practices.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Thorough understanding and complete knowledge of testing and troubleshooting methods of protection and control systems/equipment used by Eversource
  • Thorough understanding of the operation, maintenance and software applications of the various protection systems and test equipment that support the transmission and distribution operational functions.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral)

Education:

  • Associate degree in Electronic/Engineering Technology or equivalent           

Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience required     
  • Supervisory experience is preferred                     

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license is required

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The hourly salary rate for this position is $59.26 plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.
