Eversource is looking for a Capital Project Outage Planner in Hooksett, NH. In this role you are responsible for assessing assigned capital projects for transmission and distribution system outage requirements. The Capital Project Outage Planner participates in cross functional project teams, reviewing key documents and engineering designs while working to develop a constructability plan that minimizes outage durations and maximizes work within the outages. This individual will work with outside groups and develop strategies to minimize customer exposure for both transmission and distribution system outages.
Essential Functions:
Develops required Outage and Energization Sequence Plans for Substation, Transmission and Distribution capital projects. Plans will be developed and refined in each phase of the project lifecycle process (e.g., partial funding, full funding, construction execution, etc.).
Participates in constructability reviews with the project team.
Works with the project team to determine boundary requirements for defined scopes of work.
Coordinates with Transmission and Distribution Outage Coordinators to determine acceptable outage windows.
Collaborates across multiple groups and departments as necessary to resolve operational and outage planning issues.
Coordinates inter-utility requests (e.g. National Grid, municipalities, etc.)
Participates in bulk outage planning meetings.
Generates and submits all required outage request documents (e.g. sketches, one lines, etc.) in accordance with long term planning guidelines.
Tracks permit acceptance status and provides regular updates to project team
Attends Single Contingency Load Loss (SCLL) committee meetings and resolves committee concerns that may impact project outage requests.
Attends substation, transmission and distribution pre-construction meetings.
Provides regular outage updates and facilitates communication between project managers, and construction teams to ensure seamless execution.
Provide Outage Coordination with all post outage closeout notifications.
Supports the development of tools to increase the efficiency of outage planning, scheduling, reporting and data entry.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Thorough knowledge of bulk power system operations.
Through knowledge of the various components that comprise the bulk power system.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and work effectively with personnel at all levels within control centers. (Convex, SOC, etc.)
Ability to navigate clearance request software (ITOA) and maintain a professional relationship with the Transmission and Distribution Outage Coordinators.
Knowledge of utility Transmission and Distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with various levels of the organization and outsiders involved with electric operations.
Working knowledge of information technology and the use of Eversource’s office automation and information systems
Knowledge of software applications like AutoCad and Bluebeam REVU preferred.
Valid motor vehicle license is required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline or experience
Experience:
3 - 5 years related electrical utility experience working control rooms, generation, operations, power system protection, or equivalent electric operations experience is required.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
