Management Trainee, Gas

This position is a management development and training opportunity that leads to a front-line supervisory position. This position receives a Corporate business overview followed by rotations into the following Gas Operations functional areas: Gas Construction, Gas Distribution, Gas Service. In addition to the apprenticeship and rotational assignments, trainees work on various projects and business redesign activities across Operations and take part in various development activities. After successful completion training, this position assumes supervisory duties and on-call responsibilities in their assigned area, along with more advanced training and developmental projects.

Role and Scope of Position: 

Essential Functions: 

Gas Operations

Distribution & Construction – supervises multi-skilled work crews engaged in the execution of processes to operate, maintain and construct the gas distribution systems.  Coordinates outages as the on-scene supervisor.  Responds to and classifies reported gas leaks.  May participate in the supervisory on-call rotation.  Ensures that area resources are available to meet workload demands.  Responsible for classifying and responding to reported gas leaks and other emergencies.  Coordinates outages, schedules meter relocations, oversees contractors and investigates all DTE related incidents.

Gas Service – supervises work crews engaged in installation, maintenance and service work on natural gas equipment including appliances, meters and interior piping work on customer premises.  Plans, schedules and inspects the work of employees.  Coordinates field maintenance activities with system operations; performs off-hour emergency callouts of Distribution and Facilities Management personnel. 

General Supervisory Duties – responsible for prioritizing work and schedules to ensure commitments to the operating areas are met.  Identifies and communicates group and individual performance measures and expected performance levels and assesses team/individual performance.  Effectively interacts with customers and resolves concerns, as necessary.  Ensures work practices meet all Company, regulatory, government and safety standards.  Oversees work of assigned staff and outside contractors and provides guidance in the resolution of problems.  In collaboration with other supervisors and managers, ensures that emergency storm plans are in place in order to support the timely restoration of customer service.  Ensures the safety of personnel by taking direct preventive measures, conducting effective monthly safety meetings and ensuring all related standards, rules and laws are understood and followed.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill: 

Gas Operations

•            Requires a demonstrated understanding of electrical and mechanical concepts.  Also requires strong interpersonal and communications skills. 

•            Ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).

Education:     

•            Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, related discipline or equivalent related experience                

Experience:      

•            Zero (1) to three (3) years of experience

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $78,440.00 to $87,150.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

     Working Conditions:

•            Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

•            Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

•            Work is performed in an office environment which requires sitting, standing and general movement throughout the office area, as well as in the field in varied conditions and at job sites, service centers and customer premises.

  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
