Meter Repairer

Locations: Meriden, Connecticut

Individual will (under close supervision) be assisting others or working alone, perform operations associated with the testing, adjustment, repair, and painting of gas meters and associated devices. Performs physical work both outdoors and indoors with material, hand tools, and equipment pertinent to the job. Ability to work for extended periods of time with meter proving equipment. Individual will load, paint, and remove gas meters for paint line as well as unload, sort, store, and take inventory of meters, equipment, and devices. Reads commercial and industrial meters and correcting devices. Performs necessary calculations as related to meter testing and other routines. Individual will work in a field and shop environment.

Starting Rate of Pay $44.70 per hour

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required
• Must possess and maintain a driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a motor vehicle
• Ability to lift/move materials over 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working independently or in a team setting
• Capable of performing physical labor for extended periods of time
• Mechanical experience preferred

Position Description:

• Read commercial and industrial meters and perform related calculations
• Work in both field and shop settings

This is a union represented position so anyone going into this position would be required to become a member of the union.

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position.
