Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Eversource is looking for a Specialist, Capital Project Materials in Hartford, CT. In this role you will support the Transmission Capital Projects team across Connecticut with the accurate handling of materials throughout the lifecycle of large Transmission projects. This includes tracking materials from ordering and purchase order issuance through delivery, issuing, inventory, and project closeout. The position will also support material reconciliation process upon project completion and is responsible for timely closing of material laydown areas. Position requires collaboration with multiple teams across the organization including Project Management, Procurement, Budget and Investment Planning, Materials Planning and Logistics, and Engineering. This position will also interface with external vendors to coordinate material delivery and issuance to projects.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in weekly project planning meetings and provides updates on delivery of materials to designated show up sites and coordinates with Project team regarding project schedule to ensure material delivery needs are met.

  • Assist with entering Desktop Requisitions (DR) in Maximo to order materials for large capital transmission projects and track the Desktop Requisition approval and ensure purchase orders are issued to suppliers.

  • Work with project teams to establish material laydown yards as needed to meet demands of large capital transmission projects. This may include working with project management, procurement, and contract controls to issue RFPs and contracts for laydown yard management and support.

  • Track deliveries of poles, cable and other oversize items utilizing internal or contract resources between issuance from warehouse or manufacturers and delivery to required laydown yard.

  • Coordinate with external vendors on direct ship material delivery timeframes and other material handling needs, as necessitated by each project.

  • Support the coordination of leased trailers/containers between material receiving areas and job sites/remote laydown areas.

  • Conduct field visits with Project Management, Construction Representatives, and field personnel to identify material laydown / delivery concerns and develop solutions.

  • Ensure project integrity by ensuring all required material is properly inventoried and identified during construction and work to remedy discrepancies or missing material.

  • Coordinate with contract resources to ensure seasonal maintenance of laydown yards.

  • Coordinates with Project and Procurement teams, and external vendors, to ensure appropriate cleanup of project materials at the conclusion of projects for return through Eversource’s Investment Recovery process.

  • Lead the closeout and demobilization of project material laydown yards after the conclusion of projects. Work with project management, procurement, and contracts to close out any contracts that were supporting the laydown yards.

  • Provide field insight to support improvements in the physical handling and return of material from project sites. Considerations would include unpackaged material, loose materials, return containerization, and future use conditions that may or may not make returns productive in some situations.

  • Ensuring receiving documentation for direct ship materials is forwarded by site personnel in an accurate and timely manner to ensure transaction completion, and providing follow-up when such records are delayed.

  • Ensuring the tracking and security of materials once delivered, including potential smaller parcels.

  • Oversight and tracking of any emergency lending of material, to ensure replacement of material or financial adjustments are made.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Maximo (Supply Chain Inventory System), eBuilder, PowerPlan experience preferred.

  • Proficient/Advanced Level of MS Office Suite is required.

  • Ability to work effectively with other people to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage varying workloads and projects simultaneously.

  • The ability to collaborate with Procurement, Materials Planning, Standards Engineering, Project Managers, Construction Representatives, Service Center Planners, and Engineering Departments is required.

  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:

  • Three years’ (3) experience in professional role, preferably involving the support of project management, with a focus on data skills, working well in a team environment, and successfully achieving timelines.

  • Experience in materials handling and logistics as well as construction means and methods pertaining to the movement, handling, and storage of large equipment. 

  • OSHA 10 preferred. 

  • Familiarity with PPE and safety practices commonly found on construction sites.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

  • Primary work location will be office based, but occasional field work on construction sites and laydown yards will be required.
