Our Team:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Transmission Project Controls team as a Senior Specialist. Project Controls is responsible for planning and scheduling, cost management, risk and change management, performance reporting, and governance & compliance. The role is available in Hartford, CT, Westwood, MA and Manchester, NH.

This position will be responsible for software training, maintaining and creating departmental procedures, and providing advanced project controls expertise in project planning, scheduling, cost control, and performance analysis.

As the Senior Specialist, Project Controls you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and delivering comprehensive training programs focused on Oracle Primavera P6 software. This role supports enhancing scheduling and project controls capabilities by driving consistent and effective use of P6 across the organization. Works closely with schedulers and stakeholders to assess skill gaps, develop customized learning paths, and promote best practices in project scheduling and controls.  This position plays a critical support role in the continual and successful execution of on time project delivery, within budget, and in alignment with strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in applying project management theories, have strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of project controls methodologies, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and deliver hands-on training sessions for Primavera P6 users at various skill levels (beginner to advanced).

  • Responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining departmental procedures and job aid documentation that supports internal teams.

  • Support Project Controls team by evaluating project and schedule performance metrics, including cost, timeline adherence, earned value, and resource utilization to develop improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:

Specialist Training

  • Create training materials, user guides, and reference documentation tailored to organizational standards and project types.

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging Primavera P6 training for schedulers of varying levels.

  • Conduct workshops, webinars, and one-on-one coaching sessions to support adoption and proficiency.

  • Collaborate with project controls and IT teams to ensure alignment between training content and system configurations.

  • Evaluate training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, feedback, and performance metrics.

  • Stay current with Primavera P6 updates and industry best practices to continuously improve training offerings.

  • Assess learner performance and adjust training approaches based on feedback and analytics.

  • Provide post-training support and troubleshooting for users navigating complex scheduling scenarios.

  • Align Oracle Primavera P6 training with core responsibilities, outcomes and strategic goals of Eversource to support project execution, risk mitigation and reporting.

  • Assist in onboarding new hires and integrating P6 training into orientation programs.

  • Support the development of standardized scheduling templates and procedures.

Documentation & Technical Writing

  • Focuses on process mapping and articulate step-by-step documentation by creating detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) within our existing job aid, training guides, workflows using flowcharts, diagrams, and power point.

  • Develop documentation that communicates complex information into logical easy to navigate formats.

  • Quality Assurance to proofread and edit grammar, clarity and accuracy.

  • Assist teams to adapt to new processes by providing training and documentation.

  • Identify any inefficiencies, and redundancies that align with Eversource format guidelines and collaborate with a team to remove impediments. Recommend and implement changes to streamline workflows and reduce waste.

  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to gain input and build consensus from the teams prior to document changes.

  • Update workflows cross regionally

Project Controls Expertise

  • Evaluate, coach, and drive improvements in the quality of project schedules from initiation through closeout, with a primary focus on Transmission-managed initiatives including Capital Projects, Maintenance Projects, and Distribution Projects.

  • Monitor and report progress related to training initiatives and process mapping and development, leveraging available dashboards, reports, and data extracts. Evaluate project and schedule performance metrics, including cost, timeline adherence, earned value, and resource utilization.

  • Standardize schedule template creation and baselines for cost and schedule.

  • Collaborate with supporting departments to assure adherence to schedule and established guidelines utilizing educational strategies.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Oracle, P6, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Scheduling, Project Management, Project Controls or a related field, master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Proven expertise in Oracle Primavera P6 with (5-8) years minimum hands-on experience. Strong background in project controls, scheduling, project management, especially in industries sch as construction, energy, and infrastructure.

  • Working knowledge of Power BI software

  • Ability to create PowerPoint slide presentations

  • Experience developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and technical documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Licenses & Certifications: (Desired) PMI-SP Scheduling or PMI-PMP

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary

Hybrid Schedule: Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change,  based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
