02/10/2026Locations: Hartford, Connecticut

Role and Scope of Position:This position will support the further implementation of internal and vendor drone operations across the company, including involvement in technical inspections, crew scheduling, data management and reporting, drone software utilization, and overall innovation projects. This position may include assisting Eversource drone pilots in the office and field, including acting as field inspector and involvement in emergency response patrols. Attendance and/or presentation at drone industry conferences or webinars may also be required. This position requires familiarity with drone technology and drone industry software. Specific duties include technical training, data collection and analysis, inspection reviews, safety evaluations, standards creation and implementation, emergency response patrol assistance, software implementation, and industry networking. The ability to work independently and take project initiative is a requirement.
Position can be based out of CT Or NH.
Essential Functions:
Support of Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance groups at Eversource Energy
- Perform data collection, management, analysis and reporting including data visualization and database management
- Support the further development of our innovative drone program, including creation and implementation of standards and best practices for comprehensive technical inspections
- Support in overall drone use during blue sky days
- Assist in training and review of internal and vendor inspection crews and reports of asset inspections
- Assist in inspection analysis of Transmission and Distribution assets, including collection and dissemination of inspection data to a wide internal audience
- Work with peers to provide technical guidance regarding replacement and/or remediation of assets
- Support drone programs including, but not limited to, photo and video data collection and management, asset inspections, survey support, LIDAR, multispectral analysis, and infrared analysis
- Ability and willingness to learn technical inspection criteria of utility assets
- Perform Quality Control of data collected using and/or creating new tools for data management
Support of Emergency Response
- Support for creation and continuous improvement of innovative drone standards and best practices for emergency response
- Support and occasional coordination of drone crews during Emergency Response
- Perform field emergency response assignment including Drone Coordinator or Visual Observer
- Create and disseminate reports based on emergency response patrols
Support of Drone Use Across Eversource
- Assist other organizations within Eversource with information and guidance regarding drone use and deployment. Groups include, but are not limited to, Project Management, Siting, Real Estate, Legal, Vegetation, Surveying, Construction, Media Relations, Engineering and Operations
- Support of overall drone use across the company, including creation and implementation of innovative drone standards and use cases for each group
- Assistance in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waiver creation
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
- Familiarity of Transmission and/or Distribution Line Engineering is preferred
- Familiarity with line construction, surveying, and inspections is desired
- Familiarity with Office 365 Applications including advanced excel and PowerBi is highly desired
- Knowledge of FAA drone regulations and waiver process is desired
- Knowledge of GIS and other spatial analysis software is desired
- Knowledge of Photogrammetry and Lidar data collection is desired
- Knowledge of computer programming languages such as Python or VBA is desired
- Interest in utilizing new software programs, including Ai, application development and data visualization programs
- Understanding of data collection, management, analysis and reporting systems
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations and translate technical engineering information into understandable terms
- Ability to use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of goals
- Working knowledge of information technology and use of Eversource’s office automation and information systems
- Ability to professionally interact with internal stakeholders and external customers
- Punctual, presentable, and socially confident always when representing the company
- Willingness to seek help while in search of answers
- Passion for robotics
- Ability to walk for an extended time on uneven surface and to lift up to 50lbs from the ground is required.
- Ability to see and hear a drone or oncoming air traffic clearly is required
Education
A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required. A data/civil/electrical/mechanical engineering degree is preferred. An advanced degree in engineering or business administration is desirable.
Must have at least three- five years experience.
Experience
Experience in the technical, operational, or engineering aspects of the electric utility industry is strongly preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
A valid driver’s license. FAA Part 107 Certification is required (will need to be obtained upon candidate hire).
