JOB SUMMARY:
The Construction Inspector’s primary role will be Contractor crew oversight and installation of company facilities. The inspector will ensure that Contractor crews are operating in compliance with any and all Eversource safety, construction and maintenance policies standards and procedures, and any other applicable state and federal regulations. When contractors are not on the property, or only present in small numbers, the Inspectors will assist in other tasks in preparation of work outlined below.
A gas construction inspector verifies that gas construction and maintenance projects adhere to safety regulations, company standards, and project specifications by inspecting pipelines, components, and work methods, while maintaining detailed records and communicating with contractors and stakeholders. Key duties include reading plans, inspecting for leaks and proper installation, ensuring safe work environments per OSHA standards, documenting work, and coordinating with various parties to maintain project integrity and compliance
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:
- May perform illustrative duties of lower classifications
- Inspect Gas Contractor crews performing work on Eversource gas system facilities.
- Ensure that Contractor crews are operating in compliance with any and all Eversource safety, construction and maintenance policies, standards and procedures and any other applicable state and federal regulations.
- Conducts job audits on Gas Contractor construction work.
- Assists with estimating, job packages, field surveys, mark-outs and any and all WAM work management related activities of construction related work reviews and approves Contractor paperwork.
- Assists with work coordination between all departments including Meter Service, Gas Control, Maintenance, I&R and other operating groups.
- When assigned Construction Inspector will perform procedure supervisor functions.
- When contractors are not on property and no inspection work is available employees will be assigned to a construction crew.
- Construction Inspectors will be fully qualified as outlined in Eversource Operator Qualification program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work in this classification is performed both indoors and outdoors, as is the current practice, dependent on the work assignment. Work is performed on Company and customer premises, in streets, roadways and right of ways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five years Gas Construction & Distribution experience required. Prior Gas Inspector experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in engineering, Safety, or related field preferred.
- Must hold a valid Massachusetts commercial driver’s license (A), or be willing to train and qualify for it after assignment to the classification
- Must possess expertise and detailed technical knowledge of Gas Construction and Maintenance policies, work practices, processes, tools and equipment necessary to safely operate, maintain and perform repairs on Company gas distribution systems.
- Must meet all DOT regulations for random Drug & Alcohol testing
- Pass any job-related tests
- OQ qualified to be a Procedure Director and any and all additional OQ requirements at the company discretion.
- Must must live within 45 minutes of the Easthampton Area Work Center
HOURS/SCHEDULES
Schedule and report time: The Construction Inspector will work Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
