Staff Accountant (Hybrid Schedule)

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change

Under some supervision, the Staff Accountant is responsible for closing the books on a monthly basis, analyzes results and explains any variances.  The Staff Accountant position is responsible for keeping the Revenue/Regulatory books of an assigned company and for maintaining accurate and detailed records in support of those books, and responsible for working with the budgeting group in the budgeting process and monthly variance to actual analysis. 

Essential Functions

  • Prepares journal entries, reviews and reconciles general ledger accounts, analyzes variances.
  • Performs control activities (including SOX key control activities) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to GAAP.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing processes.
  • Completes monthly, quarterly and annual reports for state, federal and industry groups (including financial reports to FERC, PURA, NHPUC and other regulatory bodies).
  • Assists Revenue Requirements and Rates Departments with distribution rate case, tracker reconciliations and other regulatory filings.
  • Investigates and resolves outstanding items.
  • Prepares work papers for and interfaces with external financial auditors.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory
  • Strong knowledge of functional accounting practices and procedures
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Quantitative and qualitative analyses skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong functional understanding of computerized accounting programs
  • Demonstrated skill with MS Office applications (Specifically Word and Excel)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or closely related field required.                          

Experience:       

  • Three (3) plus years of related accounting experience preferably in a corporate and/or public accounting environment

$80,480.00-$89,420.00
