Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change,  based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Highly motivated Engineering Applications Analyst will provide Engineering Design Applications support to Substation and P&C Engineering Organizations. The support includes maintenance of existing custom solutions or creation of new to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Eversource Substation Design Engineering activities, ensuring that the Eversource transmission and distribution systems are designed to high quality standards.  Individual will work as a member of the Substation Compliance team, to improve Substation Design Application management and support.  Duties include working collaboratively with subject matter experts from Information Technology (IT) and other Eversource organizations to specify and implement technology improvements pertaining to future Engineering Design tools and applications.

Essential Functions: 

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Products and Autodesk’s Application Programming Interfaces (API) and Software Development Kits (SDKs)

  • Produce routines and add-ins as needed, that work with Autodesk software properties and parameters

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to build and support AutoLISP scripts and VBA macros utilized by Engineering

  • Analyze engineering processes for opportunities to develop custom automation tools, menus and routines for Autodesk Products using VBA, AutoLISP, or .NET

  • Consolidate and distribute Eversource Engineering Contractor Deployment Packages (scripts/tools/manuals)

  • Be the point of contact for Vendor CAD tool installation/setup and support

  • Troubleshoot SQL server and Document of Record application errors and escalate issues to Eversource IT when the business side lacks the entitlements to perform changes

  • Validate CIP requirements for all custom tools used by Eversource Engineering

  • Support internal Engineering initiatives (e.g., Substation QR Code, 3D Intelligent Design)

  • Formulate training material for custom Autodesk applications, scripts, and standards

  • Add, maintain, reorganize and improve CAD Drafting Standards; fonts, font sizes, dimension controls, 2D/3D symbols, standard drawing layers and usage

  • Configure Text and Dimension setting to support common scales used to construct physical dimensioned drawings

  • Collaborate with IT and explore opportunities for engineering applications to customize and support various CAD platforms (e.g., EPLAN, Primtech, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Civil 3D, and Autodesk AutoCAD)

  • Establish system variables that direct the commands to standard locations or folders

  • Coordinate and work with corporate IT to ensure application upgrades and patches do not interfere with Engineering project work (i.e., Loss of access to Engineering deliverables and CAD files).

  • Work with Eversource IT to develop and deploy of Engineering add-on applications for using Microsoft’s .NET framework per the defined process by Eversource IT

  • Troubleshoot and enhance Engineering reports (e.g., Excel & Power BI)

  • Knowledge of the Utility Industry and project workflow environment preferred

  • Familiarity with Document of Record and Product Lifecycle Management Systems (e.g., Synergis Adept, Autodesk Vault, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Fusion 360, Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault Systems, PTC, Oracle Agile, Aras)

  • Evolve our standard title blocks to work across multiple regions along with legacy title blocks and link directly to our drawing management system

  • Work with corporate IT on hardware selection, integration, testing and automation for batch plot configurations

  • Understanding of Agile Application Development or another Software Development Lifecycle process

  • Optimize existing software and related processes for performance and efficiency. 

  • Work includes data manipulation, reporting, technical writing, application development, software implementation, software support and training.

  • Support multiple corporate locations in CT/WMA, EMA and NH

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, statistical, and mathematical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Well-developed communication skills, (e.g., the ability to listen, write clearly, ability to discuss ideas and be persuasive).

  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues internal and external to Eversource.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, charts, and building functions required.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, Access, Word, and Power Point, preferred. 

Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; or equivalent related work experience

Experience:    

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience

  • Experience in leading engineering initiatives, procedure/process development, and establishing compliance requirements on internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to independently develop, present and execute new initiatives with minimal supervision.
