Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.













Role and Scope of Position:
Assist with process improvement and incident investigation activities in connection with the Gas Business Unit. This position works with project team members, subject matter experts, and other Eversource departments to develop and implement plans associated with Process Improvement Programs. This position will support both Connecticut and Massachusetts as needed.

Essential Functions: 

  • Works with Program Administrators involved in Gas Process Improvement efforts
  • Interacts regularly with Company subject matter experts, e.g., PSMS (Pipeline Safety Management System), QA (quality assurance), QC (quality control), Safety, Operations, Training, Engineering and/or others as needed, to continually identify process improvements to assist the Gas Business in moving toward a zero-incident culture.
  • Develops knowledge of industry best practices, trends, industry-related regulatory and legislative changes impacting the gas business.
  • Participates on committees or meetings focused on compliance, both internally and externally, such as for the Northeast Gas Association and the American Gas Association specific to Process Safety.
  • Communicates in writing and verbally in a clear, effective and timely manner.

Process Improvement:

  • Provides input into the development of, and monitors process improvement metrics.
  • Assists with process improvement reviews, Process Hazard Analysis (core risk-based tasks and complex projects), Safety Engagement Team (SET) participation.
  • Participates in human performance initiatives with in the Gas Business; reviews to prevent incidents.
  • Performs, leads and coordinates incident investigations and root cause analysis. 
  • Monitors hazard ID program and Near Miss Program ensures follow-up and reporting.
  • Monitors lessons learned program, communication and tracking of internal and industry incidents.
  • Provides Process Safety Management (PSM) support to Gas Operations; develops and conducts training on PSM processes.
  • Supports Process improvement metric generation, including interpretation of data, and seeks to identify problems and opportunities for improving process safety performance;

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Ability to provide insight and perform detail-based analysis. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with employees, contractors, customers, municipal officials, business organizations, environmental groups, and community-based organizations.
  •  Understanding of Federal and state (CT and MA) compliance requirements. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Process Safety, Engineering, Business Management or Administration, Accounting/Finance, related discipline or equivalent experience.

Experience:                          

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years utility or related industry experience
  • Process Improvement Project Management and/or Compliance and Risk Management experience preferred

Licenses & Certifications:

  • N/A

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs.
  •  It also includes field visits which may include construction sites, rough terrain and production facilities.
  •  Job requires traveling to other operating districts and companies within and outside of the state.
  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.

  • Work includes calculating, comparing, technical writing, editing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, presenting, etc. 
  • This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
