The Licensing & Permitting team provides project support for maintenance and new construction projects across Eversource. This includes developing permitting strategies, conducting outreach and consultations with local, state, and federal agencies, managing outside consultant services, ensuring regulatory compliance, and overseeing mitigation requirements—all with attention to cost and schedule.
As a Licensing & Permitting Co-op, you will support the Environmental Affairs Department by assisting with environmental reviews, permitting processes, and compliance activities for electric and gas operations.
Responsibilities
Conduct environmental reviews using GIS mapping, remote desktop applications, and on-site field inspections for maintenance and new construction projects.
Assist in determining necessary permits and protective measures for wetland resource areas, endangered species, flood zones, and hazardous sites/materials.
Prepare maintenance notification letters to ensure clear communication between Eversource and regulatory agencies.
Support permitting strategy development and outreach efforts.
Supervise consultant groups during site visits and inspections.
Collaborate with Environmental Affairs, Engineering, and Operations teams.
Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and access to a personally owned vehicle.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and GIS software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Education
Currently enrolled as at least a second-year student in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or Environmental Engineering.
Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not employees of Eversource. Payrates are hourly and based on year of graduation and if the role is technical or non-technical. Rates start at $20.30 for a technical freshman and up to $22.73 for a senior.
