Substation Operations Co-op - Eversource Energy

Overview:
Join our Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Substation team as a student co-op and gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of substation facilities. This role provides exposure to real-world utility practices, technical systems, and safety standards while supporting critical projects that keep the power grid reliable.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with coordination of maintenance and construction activities for substation assets, including scheduling and tracking materials and equipment.
Support analysis of maintenance data and help ensure accurate input into company databases.
Collaborate with engineering, field communications, and control center teams to learn how projects are planned and executed.
Participate in safety initiatives by observing and promoting safe work practices.
Contribute to process improvement by identifying opportunities for efficiency and reliability.
Provide general administrative and technical support to the substation operations team.
Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with databases is a plus.
Education:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Working Conditions:
Combination of office and field work; may involve visiting substation sites under supervision.
Must be able to work in varied outdoor conditions when accompanying field staff.
Occasional travel within MA/CT/NH may be required.
Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not employees of Eversource. Payrates are hourly and based on year of graduation and if the role is technical or non-technical. Rates start at $20.60 for a technical freshman and up to $27.38 for a senior.
