Locations: Windsor, Connecticut

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.





Role and Scope of Position:
Responsible for performing risk assessments for impacts to the Distribution System associated with Transmission and Distribution Outages. This role acts as a liaison between Engineering and Operations for gathering load studies, contingency planning, and overall risk assessment to the Distribution System. This individual will work with outside groups and develop strategies to minimize customer exposure for both Transmission and Distribution Outages.

Essential Functions: 

  • Chairs the Single Contingency Load Loss (SCLL) committee and acts as a liaison between the SOC and Transmission Projects, Distribution Projects, Substation Operations, and Field Engineering groups requesting outages.
  • Review outages initiated by other companies external to Eversource that can create SCLL conditions.
  • Identify risks associated with Transmission or Distribution Outages and works with associated groups to minimize the risk to system by reducing the recall of outages, reducing the outage window, limiting the impact to sensitive customers.
  • Coordinates Distribution Operations with Transmission Operations
  • Identifies SCLL’s and any other system reliability need that will impact Distribution Operations.
  • Attends pre-construction meetings for Transmission Construction/Projects affecting Distribution when needed.
  • Communicates request/plans via requesting mechanism/tool in preparation for planned, unplanned, or possible anticipated contingency situations.
  • Monitors system and equipment loading during high heat periods and utilizes tools to identify overloaded circuits, equipment, etc.
  • Reviews and updates contingency plans, off-load plans, dynamic loop disabling in preparation for summer preparedness.
  • Evaluate existing processes within the SOC to look for process improvements.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Requires a demonstrated skill in power systems analysis; technical understanding of the parameters and functions of the operation of the power delivery system and of power system theory; and in working with advanced electric system modeling software, as developed by the Company and/or knowledge of utility system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.  Requires the ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Knowledge of utility Transmission and Distribution system design, operations, maintenance, and construction principles and practices, safety standards and business processes.
  • Knowledge of electric distribution system operations.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with various levels of the organization and outsiders involved with electric distribution operations.
  • Ability to analyze electric distribution system problems and act accordingly.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline or experience

Experience:    

  • 3 - 5 years related electrical utility experience performing load studies, contingency planning and load forecasting

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$95,480.00-$106,090.00
