In this role, you will lead the development and execution of integrated outreach and communications strategies that increase awareness of Eversource’s energy efficiency, active demand response, and electric vehicle programs across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Working closely with Media Relations and Public Relations/Outreach partners, you will shape messaging for media opportunities and serve as a primary communications representative in external-facing settings, including interviews, public events, speaking engagements, and stakeholder briefings.
You will oversee proactive outreach and engagement efforts that strengthen customer and stakeholder connections, identify strategic visibility opportunities, and ensure alignment with company priorities and brand standards. This role requires a strong communicator with experience in public-facing environments, message development, and stakeholder engagement, who can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Reporting manager: Marketing Communications Director
Essential Functions:
- Leads the strategy, development, and execution of proactive outreach and engagement initiatives to increase awareness of Energy Efficiency, Electric Vehicle, and Active Demand Response programs and strategic priorities across key external audiences.
- Leads the development and delivery of messaging for media opportunities, interviews, public events, speaking engagements, and stakeholder briefings related to these programs, in partnership with Media Relations and Public Relations/Outreach teams, including representing these programs in external-facing settings as needed.
- Develops and implements integrated outreach plans, messaging frameworks, and engagement strategies that support business objectives and enhance customer and stakeholder awareness.
- Serves as a central point of contact for marketing outreach, public relations, and external communications supporting these programs, ensuring alignment and coordination across internal teams and external partners.
- Creates and delivers key communications materials, including talking points, briefing documents, presentations, and supporting content for public-facing opportunities.
- Identifies and supports strategic opportunities for external visibility and engagement, including events, partnerships, and stakeholder forums.
- Partners with internal teams, subject matter experts, and business leaders to ensure communications are accurate, audience-focused, and aligned with program priorities and brand standards.
- Supports high-visibility and time-sensitive communications by developing materials, coordinating inputs, and ensuring readiness for external engagement.
- Manages external vendors and partners to deliver communications projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Tracks outreach activity and engagement performance, providing reporting, insights, and recommendations to inform future strategies.
- Supports integrated marketing and communications campaigns and contributes to special projects as needed.
Qualification
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Time and project management skills and the ability to prioritize projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to successfully engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders.
- Strong experience in message development, public-facing communications, and stakeholder outreach.
- Ability to develop and deploy clear, effective, and audience-appropriate communications for a variety of external-facing opportunities.
- Experience preparing talking points, briefing materials, presentations, and outreach content for high-visibility communications initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, Media Relations, Public Relations/Outreach partners, and external vendors.
- Sound judgment and professionalism in handling sensitive, high-profile, or time-sensitive communications matters.
- Proficient or expert-level use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, business, journalism, public relations, or relevant degree.
Experience:
- Five (5) plus years of marketing, public relations, corporate communications, outreach, stakeholder engagement, or related experience required.
- Previous experience supporting media relations, media opportunities, spokesperson preparation, public-facing messaging, or high-visibility external communications strongly preferred.
- Agency experience preferred.
- Experience in energy, sustainability, clean energy, utilities, or regulated industries desired.
- Proven track record of meeting timelines, prioritizing special projects, and successfully managing multiple communications initiatives at once.
- Experience working with internal and external communications partners, agencies, and cross-functional stakeholders preferred.
