IT Senior Data Architect (Hybrid)

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature ofworkand team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject tochange,  basedon managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able towork up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

The IT Senior Data Architect will develop and implement data solutions that range from data modeling, data engineering, data visualization, data governance, and data management operations to meet business needs. The data solution architect’s responsibilities include gathering requirements and functional specifications, acting as bridge between business SMEs and data engineering team, define domain-specific extensions of Enterprise Unified Data Model, and assessing the current systems in place to identify areas in need of improvement and designing data products.

Essential Functions: 

  • Provide customer data domain expertise by establishing and governing a standardized Customer Data and Analytics Reference Architecture that defines ecosystem-wide functional components, integration patterns, data governance controls, and security standards, enabling trusted customer data products, improved cross-domain interoperability, regulatory compliance, and more reliable analytics and enterprise decision-making. 

  • Communicates the data architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with other architects and engineers in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.  

  • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.  

  • Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.  

  • Work with development teams to ensure they understand the solutions they are building.  

  • Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed.  

  • Proactively analyze data flows to answer key questions from stakeholders or out of self-initiated curiosity with an eye for what drives business performance, investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity 

  • Collaborate with team members and client stakeholders to understand data architecture needs and deliver data solutions. 

  • Produce project deliverables that may include database designs, data ingestion processes, data integration solutions, job orchestration, documentation, and reporting. 

  • Trace data requirements, data sources, and data flows to identify solution opportunities. 

  • Design and implement effective data solutions and data models. 

  • Facilitate the establishment and execution of the roadmap and vision for information delivery and management including the enterprise data warehouse, BI & analytics and Data management. 

  • Lead data engineers to architect and deliver the solutions that fulfill the Business information needs and align with the information vision and strategy. 

  • Research and evaluate capability with other systems, alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective solution for system design. 

  • Apply business strategy while driving technology strategy, balancing short term and long term needs to ensure that the architecture can scale and evolve accordingly. 

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Customer data domain expertise preferred, including experience establishing and governing a standardized Customer Data and Analytics Reference Architecture 

  • Prior experience as Data Architect, should have experience building Data Flow Diagram, ER Diagram etc.  

  • Strong Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Standards, data standardization, data mastering and Metadata Management 

  • Demonstrated understanding of Data management, and Data Visualization  

  • Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users and common provisioning of the enterprise data for all corporate functions & business units. 

  • Prior experience in data analysis and SQL query tuning. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication.  

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Ability to understand system integration between multiple large systems.  

  • Ability to work under indirect supervision.  

  • Broad understanding of information technology topics.  

  • Effective interpersonal skills and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability.  

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and time spent outside of comfort zone acquiring new skills.  

  • Flexible in a fast-paced dynamic environment with shifting roles and responsibilities.  

  • Technically creative and open-minded.  

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education and work experience  

Experience:  

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience related to Data solutions and Data architecture.  

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs.  

Licenses & Certifications:  N/A

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$134,580.00-$149,530.00

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment.  This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
