Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change,  based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Eversource is looking for an Associate Engineer, Reliability Compliance to support Transmission in Westwood, MA or Berlin, CT or Hooksett, NH. Individual will participate in the planning, preparation, and review of NPCC regulatory filings as well as post-filing response. The individual will interface with Independent System Operator – New England (ISO-NE) and participate in the coordination of required filings. Activities include coordination and, working with transmission operations to ensure proper reporting of NERC and ISO-NE requirements. Coordinates reporting on the groups quarterly key performance indicator goals. In addition, the individual will work with operations, planning, engineering, and other Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide timely response for Eversource (ES) regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for verifying compliance with engineering/test/maintenance standards and requirements by working with and reviewing records submitted by SMEs. Compliance reviews include applicable NERC Reliability Standards, ISO-NE Operating Procedures and NPCC Directories.
  • Assigning and following up on SME tasks through Archer (compliance application).
  • Prepare and discuss NERC Event Analysis reports with SME’s.
  • Conduct and coordinate Self Assessments by relying on individual technical knowledge and support of the SMEs to verify ES compliance.
  • Conduct and coordinate Reportability Determinations on engineering standards and/or requirements by evaluating potential reportable events based on NERC/NPCC compliance requirements.
  • Responsible for providing analytical support to the Manager of Reliability Compliance. Coordinate the necessary information gathering in support of all NERC, NPCC and ISO-NE related filings.
  • Maintain up to date records of all applicable rules and regulations to which transmission is subject in the Archer & Compliance Universe.
  • Ensures comprehensive and accurate records are maintained for all filings.
  • Oversees and provides input to regulatory filings for Transmission.
  • Provides support to the group in preparation of presentations to management, regulators, and other audiences.
  • Manages the group’s calendar of filings, external meetings, and all NERC reporting requirements.
  • Builds and maintains networks of key contacts across the organizations facilitating organizational efficiencies.
  • Prepares and circulates summaries of the group’s internal interaction with transmission management.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Familiar with utility industry, especially transmission.
  • Understanding of electrical powering engineering principals and theories.
  • Experience with database management and Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience with regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrates competency and proficiency in oral and written communications.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical reasoning skills, ability to apply knowledge to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology required.

Experience:   

  • 0-3 years related experience is required. Engineering design experience preferred.            

Licenses & Certifications:

  • EIT preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
