Gas Meter Service Technician

POSITION: Two (2) – Service Technician D
DEPARTMENT: Gas Meter Service
LOCATION: Somerville, MA
STARTING RATE OF PAY: $36.99

ROLE & SCOPE:
Under general supervision, the Gas Service Technician D is responsible for performing assigned duties including Install, set, remove, transfer, turn on and turn off meters; diagnose problems, meter , appliance relighting, maintenance & inspection and other assigned work, in accordance with Company Safety Standards, and in compliance with Company, State, and Federal Codes and Regulations for duties described. Gas Service Technician D is responsible for successfully completing all OJT tasks and examinations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must pass the EEI CAST Test.
2. This position will require the satisfactory completion of a pre-screening (for new hires), completion of company training programs, evaluations and written test.
3. Qualified applicants must pass a pre-employment/pre-placement drug test in accordance with D.O.T regulations.
4. Must possess a valid Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
5. High School Diploma or GED required. Vocational, mechanical, or plumbing training is highly preferred
6. Ability to work independently and outdoors in all types of varying weather conditions. Must be physically capable of walking long distances while carrying gas meters/tools.
7. Must have 2 years of related mechanical experience, gas utility experience preferred.
9. Must have a history of safe working habits.
