Locations: Lawrence, Massachusetts

Provide technical guidance for the Corrosion Control program for assigned field locations. Perform field based troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems and provide technical guidance for system remediation.

Essential Functions:

  • Reviews technical data and information from plant and service activities to ensure that corrosion prevention programs remain effective.
  • Evaluates information to set-up and implement corrosion prevention programs that will assure safety and compliance while optimizing labor resources.
  • Collaborates with contractors and other resources to ensure appropriate coverage and work assignments.
  • Provides technical guidance and instruction to company employees and/or contract crews performing corrosion control work.
  • Performs field corrosion compliance work as assigned.
  • Assists in the testing and field evaluation of new equipment/technologies.
  • Provides job-site inspection to ensure adequate, efficient, compliant corrosion inspection and repair programs.
  • Ensures work management system is maintained by reviewing corrosion reports and verifying accuracy of corrosion maps. 
  • Troubleshoot cathodic protection systems and create remediation work orders as necessary.
  • May train personnel in various aspects of corrosion inspection functions. 
  • Collaborates with Engineering to assist in the design of cathodic protection and protective coating systems for capital projects.
  • Performs advanced inspection of critical infrastructure pipelines for adequate corrosion control.
  • Inspection of inside customer meter sets while on-site for corrosion control related work.

Qualifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skills:    

  • Requires working knowledge of work management systems (Maximo).
  • Requires good organizational/planning skills and a commitment to getting the job done.
  • Must have good decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires good analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data.
  • Must be able to read, maintain, and update maps as needed.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to complete required documentation.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects and work effectively under deadlines and changing priorities and conditions.
  • Proficient at maintenance and calibration of corrosion detection instruments.

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience is required.

Experience:

  • One (1) or more years of gas utility experience is required
  • Knowledge of corrosion and policies/procedures and applicable federal, state and local regulations is required

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles.  

Working Conditions:

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing.

  • Work is performed both in an office environment and does require time in the field to perform testing, inspections and to resolve complex problems.
  • Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA & CT as necessary.

$73,730.00-$81,920.00
