Our Team:
We have an exciting role opportunity to join our amazing Transmission Interconnections & Strategic Solutions team. In this role, the right candidate will be responsible for executing transmission interconnection projects under the jurisdiction of the ISO New England (ISO-NE) administered Tariff pursuant to Schedules 22, 23 and 25. This role will be responsible for communicating to both external and internal stakeholders key project attributes to ensure the successful interconnection to the Eversource Transmission Grid.
Essential Functions:
Working knowledge of the generator interconnection process for ISO-NE or similarly from other Regional Transmission Operators (RTO) or ISO’s.
Ability to work on multiple interconnection projects simultaneously, and coordinate with both external and internal parties.
Develop and administer contracts and enabling agreements with business counterparts.
Ability to take on multiple internal projects that may be tangentially related to a core interconnection project.
Ability to at a high level be able to interpret transmission system planning study results.
Strong understanding of substation, Transmission Line and Protection & Control concepts as well as the ability to read basic electrical one-line diagrams. Experience using and/or interpreting power flow simulations is a plus.
Proficiency reporting out to senior management as well as participating in lessons learned and process improvement initiatives.
Participate and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Organize, manage, and drive completion of project deliverables in a matrix environment.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Demonstrated expertise in negotiation of complex issues, sometimes technical in nature, with multiple parties.
Demonstrated expertise in verbal and written communications, and formal presentations.
Demonstrated expertise in relationship/team building.
Demonstrated ability to influence and lead others.
Ability to work effectively and represent Transmission positions with all levels of the Eversource organization, ISO-NE and regulatory organizations.
Excellent teambuilding, interpersonal and motivational skills.
The ability to schedule, plan, and manage complex projects.
Ability to quickly understand related regulatory and legislative requirements and proposals.
Knowledge of ISO-NE tariff schedule 22 and 23 for generator interconnections & associated engineering, Eversource work practices and procedures, and safety requirements.
Knowledge of the energy delivery power system.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Baccalaureate degree in engineering, power systems or related technical degree.
Master’s degree in engineering (or technical degree) desirable.
Project Management Certificate of accomplishment and/or Masters of Business Administration desirable.
Experience:
3-5+ years utility experience required that includes general management experience or lead or project management experience.
Prior experience helpful in the broad aspects of power systems planning and operations, power pool operations, emerging power markets, regulatory interfaces with federal and state authorities.
Prior experience negotiating with individual external companies within pre-established business guidelines and procedures.
Prior experience representing/negotiating business interests to an external, regional or industry organization.
Experience developing written proposals and presentations in a team environment.
Experience implementing and complying with Eversource engineering and construction guidelines.
Licenses & Certifications:
Valid motor vehicle license is required.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
HYBRID SCHEDULE: Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
