Job Description Summary
Eversource Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to assist in improving and documenting key business processes within our internal TIS Dashboard program, housed within SharePoint and a Microsoft Power App. This internship provides hands-on experience in business process analysis, system documentation, data reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The intern will gain exposure to real-world business operations, develop technical and analytical skills, and engage with cross-functional teams.
Summer Intern – Energy Economic Analyst (Quantitative Analysis + PLEXOS)

Department: Economic Analysis

Location: Hybrid (Hartford, CT)

Duration: Summer 2026 (10–12 weeks)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week (not flexible)

Eversource is seeking a highly motivated, tech-savvy intern to support and conduct quantitative analysis of the power sector. This role will directly support the Transmission's Economic Analysis and Strategy team in evaluation data and specific to Transmissions long term plan. Interest in coding and forecasting is preferred, an interest in PLEXOS is ideal. You will work closely with personnel throughout the Eversource Company including departments such as project management, asset management, estimating, engineering, siting, permitting, and procurement.

Essential Functions

  • Scrutinizes technical reports related to the operational and economic impact of clean energy resources on the electric transmission and distribution systems in New England.

  • Gather, clean, validate, and maintain datasets from multiple internal and external sources.

  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform business decisions.

  • Develop and automate recurring reports, dashboards, and visualizations.

  • Perform root‑cause analysis to support issue resolution and process improvement initiatives.

  • Communicates and provides clear, concise, and comprehensive status reports on assigned tasks

  • Maintain process documentation

  • Work on projects that will help develop analytical, audit, research, testing and validation skills

Education

Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in a related field such as:

  • Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Systems, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics or similar

Experience:  

  • Microsoft Excel and SQL experience are highly desirable, PLEXOS is preferred

  • Ability to work with and merge large MS Excel datasets

Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not employees of Eversource.  Pay rates are hourly, based on year of graduation and if the role is technical or non-technical. Rates start at $18.12 for a freshman and go up to $27.63 for a graduate level student.
