2026 Summer Internship, Field Engineering Test Department

Eversource Energy Service Company is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic engineering students for a 2026 Summer Internship within our Field Engineering Test Department. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy sector, contributing to the reliability and efficiency of our electrical grid.
Responsibilities:
* Assist experienced engineers with the planning, execution, and analysis of various field tests on electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, and other substation apparatus.
* Support data collection and analysis using specialized testing equipment and software.
* Participate in the calibration and maintenance of testing instruments.
* Document test procedures, results, and observations accurately and thoroughly.
* Contribute to the identification and troubleshooting of electrical system issues.
* Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and company standards in a field environment.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project completion.
* Attend departmental meetings and presentations to gain a broader understanding of Eversource operations.
* Prepare and present a summary of internship experiences and projects at the end of the program.
Qualifications:
* Basic understanding of electrical circuits, power systems, and electrical safety principles.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and comply with all safety regulations.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
* Prior experience with electrical testing equipment or field work is a plus, but not required.
Education:
*Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of Spring 2027 or later.
Interns are paid through our Managed Service Provider Program and are not employees of Eversource. Payrates are hourly and based on year of graduation and if the role is technical or non-technical. Technical rates start at $20.60 freshman and up to $27.38 for a senior.
