Our Team:
We have an exciting role to join our GIS team. This role is responsible for performing ESRI GIS editing assignments and posting all as-built changes to the Electric Transmission, Substation, and Distribution assets, and land-base asset records through work order, work request, system change notices, field checks and/or any document that reflects a change to the Electric System. This GIS data model supports several key downstream applications for Outage Management, Load Flow Analysis, and Electric System Automation.
The role is based in Dorchester, MA
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the quality, accuracy and timely posting of Company/Customer distribution, substation, transmission and land-base records in GIS through final editing and posting of all pertinent data.
Responsible for leading and providing general direction to employees at the same or lower grade levels to ensure timeliness and quality of work on projects which require more than one GIS Technicians.
Provides recommendations to support management decisions in the prioritizing of work, training needs and allocation of resources.
Provides coaching and training on work practices, procedures, functions, systems and technology utilized by the GIS records group.
Responsible for QA/QC of one-liners, primary circuits, follow sheets.
Tracks the status of construction on work orders by receiving and reconciling paperwork from the appropriate systems.
Conducts overhead field lookups to verify the accuracy of distribution and transmission records in support of the work order process.
Provides general support for other departments. This includes activities in the design, construction, and posting stages as needed to support the flow of work.
Utilizes computer application tools such as, but not limited to, the Company’s Work Management System, Customer Information System, Geographical Information System, PC based applications and others needed to manage workflow.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Education: Technical education is evidenced by an associate degree in GIS Technology or equivalent certification from a technical school of collegiate grade. This degree, or equivalent formal technical education, must be in a field applicable to the engineering and/or technical activities of the GIS Records Department.
Skills: Requires two years of experience in computer-aided drafting (GIS, AutoCAD) or equivalent. ESRI Geometric Network platform experience required, ESRI Utility Network platform experience preferred.
Massachusetts Driver’s License and approved to operate company vehicles.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignments as required.
Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
The position requires membership into the Utility Workers Union Of America, A.F.L. - C.I.O. (UWUA) Local 369.

Hybrid Schedule:
To start, the role is Monday – Friday in office. After training is complete, Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.
