Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for inspecting the work of internal and contractor crews performing construction and maintenance activities for Gas Distribution. Ensures that work is performed in accordance with all federal, state, and company construction standards and procedures and all safety rules and standards established by the Company and required by law. The QC Specialist has the authority to direct and stop, if necessary, work to ensure compliance with all requirements. This position is an authorized company representative when on job sites and has the authority to make decisions, within their area of responsibility, on behalf of the Company.
Ensures safe work practices are being employed in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Handbook.
Ensures all work activities are being performed in accordance with Gas Distribution construction standards and operating procedures. Verifies that the work is being performed by qualified personnel.
Verifies that work packages are in order with appropriate work procedures as required, mark out ticket, and mapping information.
Oversees resources associated with the Company’s re-dig program.
Involved in the on-boarding of contractors and verifies that all aspects of the Company’s Operator Qualification Plan are being followed.
Identifies conditions adverse to Company quality control standards and makes recommendations for corrective action.
Responsible for accurate documentation of inspection results.
Responsible to audit contractors QA/QC records, files and programs as required.
Technical Knowledge/Skills: Requires knowledge of gas construction and maintenance standards, work practices and procedures, and safety requirements. Also requires knowledge of the planning, scheduling and oversight of quality assurance and control projects, assessments and audits. Requires working knowledge and use of gas business information and office automation. Requires strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
Education: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, related discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of five (5) years gas distribution, utility or technical experience.

Work is performed primarily in an office environment but does require some time in the field to resolve complex problems and keeping up to date with their operation.
Problem Solving & Complexity:
Work includes analyzing, planning, organizing, evaluating and documenting. This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.
