Senior Engineer (Hybrid)

Locations: Westborough, Massachusetts

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.

The Senior Engineer plans, develops, schedules, and performs engineering assignments related to risk management programs of the gas distribution system. Analyzes, recommends and develops specific projects for implementation. Supports values and commitment to Eversource’s mission, strategy and values.

Essential Functions: 

• Analyzes failure and system performance data to conduct risk assessment and prioritize distribution facilities for replacement.
• Develops annual pipe replacement program to meet regulatory filing requirements including project scope budget estimates and project authorization documentation.
• Develops annual capital budget and 5 -year long range forecast for Gas Business.
• Supports Distribution Integrity Management Program (DIMP) annual development and implementation including threat identification and risk assessment, development of risk mitigation plans, performance measure and annual reports.
• Supports Transmission Integrity Management Program (TIMP) annual development and implementation including threat identification, class location and high consequence area studies, risk assessment, integrity assessments and program effectiveness.
• Monitors project progress and recommends schedule changes, cost and resource adjustments required to meet company objectives
• Ensures project work is conducted in a manner consistent with the Company’s safety and procurement policies and programs
• Reviews purchase requisitions, and invoices related to departmental activity. Monitors and provides reports on project and departmental budgets.  Provides variances from scheduled and cost targets as required.
• Mentor junior staff, review their work, provide direction or assistance to drive standardization and success in their projects/assignments.
• Review and interpret applicable federal, state, and local regulations and industry codes.  Ensure all work complies with applicable codes.
• Recognize and evaluate unsafe project, work, and environmental conditions.  Initiate and/or design and implement corrective actions.
• Evaluate opportunities to utilize alternative technology in pursuit of cost reduction, increased production, and reduced environmental impact.
• Provides financial support to upper management for budget development and cost tracking. Develop and present project summaries as required.
• Coordinates resources required to complete processes or projects.
• Monitors gas compliance programs that include corrosion control and leak surveys.
• Assists in gas distribution system restoration efforts during emergencies.

• Demonstrated excellence in project leadership, coordination, and budget management tasks. 
• Extensive knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations and industry codes. 
• Thorough knowledge of computer applications systems. 
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of job duties and responsibilities and gas operating procedures. 
• Self-motivated and acts independently with minimum oversight. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills. 
• Professional level oral and written communications abilities. 
• A demonstrated strong customer service orientation. 
• Proven leadership ability.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required
• Master’s degree preferred

Experience:       

• A minimum of five years of related experience

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  The annual salary range for this position is $118,690.00 to $131,880.00 plus incentive.  Salary is commensurate with your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

• Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
• Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
• This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
