POSITION: Auto Mechanic
LOCATION: Somerville, MA
STARTING RATE OF PAY: $32.34 p/hr.
**Union Represented Position**
CURRENTLY POSTED HOURS: Shifts Required (7:00am-3:30pm and 3:00pm- 11:00pm)
Mechanics will perform any repairs major and minor to engines, chassis and special equipment associated with the Company vehicles under supervision when necessary. Mechanics will perform work of a lower classification and any other duties pertinent to the classification as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to perform physical work under a wide variety of working conditions and on shifts during hours other than normal and at times for extended periods.
2. Must have working knowledge of the principles, functions, operation and care of internal combustion engines/diesel engines and a basic knowledge of the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment normally gained in two years experience.
3. Possess a valid Massachusetts Driver's License and be capable and willing to get a Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License.
4. Must have completed 4 years of Technical School training in auto mechanics or two years of on‑the‑job training.
5. CDL License preferred.
