Carmody Torrance Sandak Hennessey LLPand Eversource Energy Legal Department will provide a law student of a diverse background a unique opportunity to participate in their summer associate programs. The selected student will spend half of the summer at Eversource Legal Department where he/she will have an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day work experiences of in-house attorneys at a major Connecticut utility. The other half of the program will be spent at Carmody Torrance Sandak Hennessey LLP, a major Connecticut law firm, participating in its regular summer associate program with exposure to its training programs and work assignments as well as getting a feel for what a career at a firm is like. A mentor from each organization will provide professional and personal development assistance.
Carmody Torrance Sandak Hennessey LLP and Eversource are committed to the recruitment and retention of attorneys from diverse backgrounds. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote diversity in the Connecticut legal community, we are pleased to offer this opportunity to first year law students.
All students of diverse backgrounds at ABA accredited law schools are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be selected based on academic, personal and professional achievement.

- A writing sample
- A personal statement describing the contribution you would make to promote diversity in the legal profession, and an explanation of your interest in this program in particular
- Two references, including one from a law school professor or someone who can comment on your legal work
Candidates selected for interviews will meet with attorneys from Carmody Torrance Sandak Hennessey LLPand the Eversource Legal Department.
Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
