GIS Technician Helper (Hybrid)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Develop a general comprehension of the electrical distribution system along with the various types of electrical equipment.
Become familiar with the Company’s overall service territory, the geographical divisions, and the personnel within.
Possess or develop a basic understanding of electricity.
Possess or develop the drafting skills necessary to produce a quality drafting product by means of computer aided drafting and design (CADD).
Spend a minimum of two days out in the field with a field technician or project specialist to observe various types of work i.e. overhead and direct buried line extensions, transformer, and switching installations.
Learn all of the various types of mapping standards and symbols.
Have the ability to understand and maintain map distribution and storage procedures.
Become familiar with all Company software that will pertain to this position i.e. GE-Smallworld GIS, windows, mainframe, lotus notes, excel, and AutoCAD (if applicable).
Learn to safely operate all reproduction equipment in the department.
Promote safety and environmental awareness and compliance.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent with a combination of education and or experience to equal a minimum of an Associates in GIS, Surveying, Cartography or related field
- Experience: Two (2) to Five (5) years of utility distribution experience in the GIS and CAD fields.
- A valid motor vehicle operator's license is also required.
The salary range for this position starts at $30.15/hourly and progresses in accordance with the union contract. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

As an Eversource Engineer, you'll work with complex systems and equipment, while providing engineering and technical services to support our growing organization. We offer a unique and exciting opportunity to explore the best of both worlds, working both in the office and the field on a variety of interesting projects. Areas of expertise include designing new substations and infrastructure, analyzing systems and disruptions to service, working with transformers, engineering the electrical protection and control circuits that handle the flow of power, and dealing with acceptance testing of equipment, failures of equipment and analysis of system disturbances, LNG plant and gas distribution.
